Why F1?
I was always fascinated with the mechanics of how cars, planes, or trains moved. I rememeber watching Michael Schumacher race from a young age and I became a fan!
I love everything about pit stops, strategy, timing, choosing tyre types, and the satisfying fast coordination and team work that is required for changing tyres within seconds.

Michael Schumacher
A legend and my all-time favorite driver. He has retired in 2012. He won his first Formula One World Championship in 1994 and the majority of his race victories were for the Ferrari team.
Lewis Hamilton
Another legend and my favorite driver, Lewis is currently active and has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher).
Max Verstappen
Max is currently active and won his first Formula 1 World Championship in 2021. He is the favorite to win 2023 Championship.
Women
Did you know that everyone can race in Formula 1 regardless of their gender?
Professional racers start out early on with karting and only a selected few ever get the chance to compete in F1. There are currently no women competing in F1 but there have been a few over the years; See the list of female Formula 1 drivers here.
W series (2019-2022) was an all-female single-seater championship. The 2022 W Series season was ended early due to financial issues.
F1 Academy Discover your Drive is a new global initiative (currently only active in the UK) that offer girls and young women the opportunity to take part in entry-level and professional programmes to promote and enhance female participation in the sport.
Sustainability
Net Zero 2030
Formula 1 is striving to become a more sustainable sport and has concrete plans for reaching net zero by 2030. For example, they can reduce emissions by using biofuels.

Formula E cars are electric and compete 45 minute races in city circuits. Honestly for me, watching Formula E is way more stressful than Formula 1 because they show how much battery is left for each car. 🔋 😬

There are 23 rounds of race scheduled for the 2023 season. The actual race is on Sunday, while practice and qualifying races are held on Friday and Saturday. The 2023 season ends November 26 in Abu Dhabi.
Teams and Drivers
10 teams are competing in Formula 1 and each team has two drivers. During each season, twenty drivers race in circuits around the world and collect points for themselves and for their teams. There can be up to 12 teams in F1, so we might see new names in the coming seasons.
