Prepare pizza

What is a pizza?

Pizza is a dish of Italian origin consisting of a usually round, flat base of wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, and often various other ingredients, such as various types of meat, vegetables, and more, which is then baked at a high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven.
Super thin crusts baked in a woodfired oven, generous spread of fresh tomato sauce, creamy buffalo cheese and fresh toppings – with pizzas like that, who needs a lover! An authentic Italian pizza is not just a dish – it is a celebration of sensational flavours that burst in your mouth and make you go!’

Chicago-style pizza usually refers to deep-dish pizza, which is a thick pizza baked in a pan and layered with cheese, fillings like meat and vegetables, and sauce–in that order. The crust is usually two to three inches tall and gets slightly fried due to the oil in the pan. As the name suggests, the crust is very deep, creating a bulky pizza that is more similar to a pie than a flatbread.

Calzone

Calzone is a pizza folded in half, turnover style. A calzone ofteh include other ingredients that are normally associated with pizza toppings, so everything you normally puts on a pizza, you can use it in a calzone too. The differene is how it looks.

If you are on the lookout for the best-woodfired pizzas in Rome, then book a cab to Monteverde and eat at La Gatta Mangiona. The chef at La Gatta Mangiona, Giancarlo Casa is quite enthusiastic about pizzas and likes experimenting with doughs and seasonings. If one is not a fan of experiments, worry not because La Gatta Mangiona has a set of traditional flavors and a few offbeat flavors. One can even find toppings of edible flowers here when visiting during the spring.
