Shakira is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer. She was born on February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Shakira is known for her unique voice and her fusion of Latin, Arabic, and rock music styles.

Shakira has had several romantic relationships throughout her life. She was in a long-term relationship with Argentine lawyer Antonio de la Rúa from 2000 to 2010. The couple announced their separation in January 2011. In 2011, Shakira began dating Spanish professional soccer player Gerard Piqué. They met while filming the music video for her song "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," which was the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Shakira and Piqué have two children together, Milan and Sasha, born in 2013 and 2015, respectively. They announced their separation last year, in 2022.

She started her music career at a young age and released her first album, Magia, in 1991. However, it was her fifth album, Laundry Service, released in 2001, that gained her international fame with hits such as "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes".

Shakira has since released several more successful albums, including Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, which won multiple Grammy Awards. She has sold over 70 million records worldwide and is considered one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time.

Aside from music, Shakira is also known for her philanthropic work, particularly through her Pies Descalzos Foundation, which focuses on improving education and healthcare for children in impoverished communities in Colombia.
