名古屋城 Nagoya Castle
The castle was built in 1612 on the orders of General Ieyasu Tokugawa. It is one of the three most famous castles in Japan. The Tokugawa family's prestige can be felt everywhere from the gold shachihoko (mythical carp with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. || auspicious protectors of well-being) shining on the main keep to the magnificent stonewalls. The Honmaru Palace which is under restoration and partially open to the public is also noteworthy.
