To this day, SheCodes workshops have taught over 1,500 women. It’s now possible to learn some basics of coding from anywhere with our brand new online courses. We provide a mix of live classes, lessons and homework to offer the highest quality online workshop that is possible.

4 weeks, 6 hours a week

A 4-week program covering development including HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You will spend around 6 hours a week learning how to code and gaining significant skills.

Coding basics

You'll have a basic understanding of how the internet works, how to hold a conversation with a developer and how to create a web page.

UI Development

You'll be able to convert an idea into actual pixels.

Web Development

You'll understand how programming languages work and why they are so powerful.

Product development

You'll understand how to launch a product from idea to production.



After the course, you will build a landing page using everything we learned during the workshop.

Meet Matt Delac

Matt Delac is software engineer who has worked with companies such as Google and Airbnb.

He started a company in Silicon Valley with funding from Y Combinator (#1 startup accelerator worldwide), has a Masters degree in e-business from Canada, and has taught 1,500+ students how to code (online and offline) through SheCodes. His workshop rating average is 4.9/5.

He’s also the founder of UpLabs, a successful design marketplace with over 500k monthly visitors.

Breakdown of a typical week

Here is an example of a typical week during SheCodes

1. Live class

The instructor will provide a live introduction to the new material, a review of the previous material, and a live Q&A. You'll be able to ask questions in real time. The live session will be recorded and published on the website for future reference.

You will be able to communicate on a Slack chat during the class with each other and with the instructor.

Duration: 90 minutes

2. Lessons

You will then get access to the designated pre-recorded lessons. You will be able to ask questions on Slack as you complete each portion of the course.

Each lesson has small challenges you'll need to complete.

Duration: 3 hours

3. Homework

You will submit homework each week. There will be deadlines for homework to be submitted in order for you to move on to the next part of the course.

Each homework exercise has a dedicated chat room for you to ask questions and get help from the instructors and other students.

Duration: 2 hours

What skills will I learn in the workshop?

You will gain a good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You will also become familiar with Visual Studio Code and opening/using the developer console.

Do I need to know how to code?

No, we’ll start from scratch assuming you’ve never coded before. If you already have some knowledge, you’ll still learn a lot!

Who teaches the courses?

The courses are taught by SheCodes founder, Matt Delac. He is a full stack engineer with many years of experience in the field of development.

How much time does it take to complete a course?

Courses take place over a period of 1 month, about 6 hours a week.

When will I gain access to course materials?

Course materials are released at specific times that coincide with the pace and direction of the course. I.e. you won’t gain access to all of the course materials at once. You will gain access to new course materials as new lessons are taught.

How long will I be able to access the course materials?

You’ll be able to access the course materials for life! Your access will never expire.

What do I receive for completing a course?

After completing a course, including all homework and the final project, you will receive an official course completion certificate and SheCodes stickers.
You’ll also receive a Coder Profile on our website if you complete all of the course work. Coder Profiles present the skills you’ve learned in a workshop and also have a link to your LinkedIn page. This is a helpful tool for future potential employers.

Can I mention the certificate on my CV?

Yes, but you'll receive an official certificate only if you have completed all of the course work.

Why should I learn how to code?

Coding skills in the job market today may help you get a job, a promotion, or a raise - and may even prevent job loss in the future.

Even if you don’t want to get a job in the tech industry, simply knowing how to read and understand code will be a big benefit you gain in any field because you’ll be able to provide constructive insight when speaking with developers. You’ll be better equipped to ask technical questions and developers will be able to provide more detailed explanations of technical issues.
