Information on SheCodes Courses

SheCodes courses are scheduled in advance and there are deadlines to meet during workshops. However, in the case that an unexpected event should occur, SheCodes reserves the right to postpone, cancel, reschedule, or pause any course or part of a course at any point in time. SheCodes also reserves the right to modify the assessments and/or assessment system at any time. Please reference the Disclaimers and Limited Liability sections below - courses offered are subject to these sections.

No University Credit
SheCodes courses do not count as academic credit at universities UNLESS a specific university indicates that the course will count as academic credit at their institution. If this is the case, then a course certificate may be used as proof of completion of the workshop. Even if one university decides to award credit for a SheCodes course, there should not be an assumption that other universities will do the same. There is no obligation (legal or otherwise) by SheCodes, its course instructors, or its staff to have a course recognized by any university, academic institution, or other accredited organization. Recognition must be initiated by a student and/or a university and it is the responsibility of these parties to ensure that the SheCodes course counts as academic credit; this is in no way the responsibility of SheCodes company or staff.

Relationship between Student and SheCodes
When you participate in any SheCodes course, you are not in any way establishing a relationship with any of our sponsors or affiliates.

SheCodes course content may be accessed for life once purchased. Access to the content does not expire or end with your participation in the workshop.

User-Generated Content

User Content
SheCodes services allow users to share content such as homework assignments, projects, and feedback on the website (where most content is private - except for user testimonials) and on platforms such as Slack, Facebook, and Instagram (where content is public). The user retains all intellectual property rights for the content that they share. They are responsible for this content.

How Your Content May Be Used By SheCodes and Others
By providing and/or generating user content, you are granting SheCodes full rights (a worldwide license) to utilize this content. This license includes, but is not limited to the ability to: publicly display, copy, distribute, modify, and/or create derivative works of user content. This license also gives SheCodes the right to authorize affiliates to use this User Content. SheCodes reserves the right to remove or change any user content for any reason we see fit - including content that is in violation of the Terms of Use.

Providing Feedback
Here at SheCodes, we cherish user feedback gathered from surveys, motivation, user communication channels (like Slack), etc. By sharing feedback, you are granting us permission to use this feedback in any way we desire. You will not receive any compensation for feedback we use. SheCodes reserves the right to use similar or related feedback in conjunction with your user feedback.

SheCodes aims to protect the security of our users. However, we do not accept blame for the unauthorized access of your information by third parties who are able to overcome our security measures. If you believe that the security of your profile or user interactions on the site has been compromised, please alert us immediately at [email protected] and we will take action to stop this unauthorized use/access.

After paying for the services of SheCodes, you have the ability to access and/or use content provided in course materials or by instructors, other users, and third parties. SheCodes cannot guarantee that content generated from other users or third parties will be free of inappropriate material or malware for your devices. Proceed at your own risk when accessing this content. SheCodes has no responsibility pertaining to your access of content of other users or of third parties.

Intellectual Property Rights

SheCodes respects and acknowledges the intellectual property rights of our users, affiliates, and select other third parties. We expect our users to respect and acknowledge the intellectual property rights of SheCodes, as well, when using our services and site. Read below for more information.

SheCodes reserves the right to utilize records of your participation in courses or user-generated content for educational and/or other research. We may vary our course content as part of this research. If we would like to publicly disclose any research findings that pertain to a specific user, we will first obtain the consent of that user before publicizing anything.

Paid Services

Courses, including classes and workshops, are paid services offered by SheCodes. If you enlist our paid services, you are responsible for paying all fees in an appropriate length of time. You must utilize a payment mechanism that is accepted by SheCodes. If your payment is not accepted or you refuse to pay for our services, then we may try to collect fees utilizing other ways of collection, or we may refuse to provide you with our services. Please note that fees may vary based on location, type of service/workshop purchased, or if a discount is offered. SheCodes is able to modify the service prices at any point in time for any reason. The change will become effective immediately upon being posted on the site. For information on refunds, please read below.

SheCodes reserves the right to halt your use of our site or services at any point that we see fit. If we terminate your use of a paid service, then a refund may be available as stipulated in our refund policy below. We also may deem a refund unnecessary, depending on the situation. SheCodes and its affiliates are not liable in any way if we wish to terminate your use of a paid service. As a user, you have the right to stop using our services at any time.

SheCodes does not offer a warranty of any kind, even if it is implied. This is the case whether these are brought upon directly or indirectly. SheCodes and its affiliates are also not responsible for loss of data, goodwill, or other intangible assets. These losses could result in limited user access or inability to use our services, among other things. These losses could arise due to misconduct (including offensive language or behavior) while using SheCodes site or our services or unauthorized access of the site, access of our services, or alteration of any content. By using our site, our services, and our affiliate sites, users are acknowledging and accepting the terms provided here, along with the distribution of risk between the user and all SheCodes parties. If users feel that legal action is necessary at any point in relation to SheCodes site and/or services, then they must take action within one year.

Accepting Responsibility

By using the site and services of SheCodes, users are agreeing to accept responsibility for any claims, liabilities, expenses, and damages that may incur. SheCodes and its affiliates are not responsible for any of these costs or related costs. These include attorneys’ fees made by third parties based on: your violation or attempted violation of the terms as pertaining to our services, your violation of laws or rights of third parties, or misappropriation of user content or of intellectual property.

General Terms

SheCodes has the right to edit or update the terms at any time as we see fit. Modifications we make are effective immediately upon being posted by us. If there are significant changes to the terms, then we will make effort to notify users of these changes. If you continue using our services after a modification has been made, with or without notification, that stipulates your acceptance of the revised terms.

If it is discovered that a specific term stipulated here is not valid, this does not affect other terms stipulated. If you fail to adhere to any of our existing terms and SheCodes does not take action, this is not an indication that SheCodes is relinquishing our rights of taking action in the future or is deeming your behavior appropriate.

The affiliates of SheCodes, including the sponsors, may enforce the Terms of Use stipulated here that are relevant to them.

Accepted Use Policy

While we do believe in freedom of speech and expression, we also want to ensure that all of our users and instructors feel safe while using our site and services.

When users participate in our services (even our online services), it is required that they follow specific guidelines.

We reserve the right to remove or edit inappropriate content or behavior that we come across. We may suspend or remove a user’s access to our site and/or services. Users should feel free to report inappropriate content or behavior that they believe is offensive and should be removed/stopped.

SheCodes is not responsible for content that appears privately, for instance in private messages between students. In our community, it is not permitted for users to share content that:
  • Includes illegal content or advertises illegal activities with intent to commit these activities.
  • Involves threatening others or organizing violent acts. Content that references threats to public safety and risks of physical injury/harm or damaging of property will not be permitted.
  • Harasses others. Abusive content directed at others will not be tolerated.
  • Infringes on intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. It is important that you only share content that you are authorized to share. Claiming other users’ content as your own or misappropriating someone else’s intellectual property will not be permitted. Give credit to the original owner of the content when necessary.
  • Is inappropriate for our site and/or services. For instance, promotional content that is irrelevant will be removed immediately.
  • Violates the Terms of Use in any way

Note: These stipulations for content are relevant to all SheCodes Connect Events, properly catered to the situation.

Users also are **not** permitted to:
  • Violate national or international laws.
  • Share personal information on unauthorized channels, knowingly have another person create a profile for them, or put their access to the site and services at risk.
  • Create a profile for another individual, try to access personal information of another user’s profile, or impersonate another user or entity.

  • Attempt to access or hack our site or services (especially non-public areas), including the authentication and security measures we have in place.

Intellectual Property Rights

SheCodes respects and acknowledges the intellectual property rights of our users, affiliates, and select other third parties. We expect our users to respect and acknowledge the intellectual property rights of SheCodes, as well, when using our services and site.

If users infringe the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of others, then we reserve the right to take action - by suspending, limiting access to, or deleting accounts of users partaking in these acts, along with other necessary measures.

If you believe that another user has infringed on your intellectual property rights, please contact us and request that the content in question be removed or otherwise dealt with appropriately.

The request must contain: physical or electronic signature of the owner of the infringed upon right; identification of the original work; identification of the infringing material; contact information like name, address, telephone number, and email address of the original content owner; and a statement from the original content owner explaining the infringement and stipulating that all information provided in the request is correct.

Please send these requests to [email protected] and we will take appropriate action after reviewing your request.

If you would like to file a serious request, then it is advised that you first consult your lawyer or other legal advisor. There may be penalties for false claims or requests.

If a user violates the intellectual property of others, then their account may be suspended or deleted by SheCodes as we see fit. We may also remove the content in question and alert the offending individual.

Refund Policy

We honor our policies and treat any violations very seriously. That being said, we are not obliged to offer refunds to our users who violate any of the terms listed in our Terms of Use or any other coinciding policies. We also have no responsibility to offer refunds to users who have changed their minds about using our services or are unsatisfied with course material, what they learned, or feedback received.

It is not possible to get a refund for a course even if you contact us before the course has started. However, it is possible to move to a future course with no change fee within a reasonable amount of time. Your workshop material will be kept up to date and you'll have one year to reschedule your workshop without any charges.

If you purchase a workshop but then decide not to complete it, a refund will not be offered. If you’ve already gained access to the course material, a refund will not be offered. Refunds will also not be offered for SheCodes workshops that have been gifted.

If you have already purchased a workshop and then there is a promotion:
  • It’s not possible for you to receive a refund for the difference in prices.
  • It’s not possible to receive a refund to then buy the course at a cheaper price using the coupon from the promotion.
  • If you have purchased a workshop using a monthly payment plan, your monthly payment amount cannot be altered. Your monthly payment amount will remain the same as it was at the time of your registration.

If you have any questions about our policy, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] and we’ll be more than happy to clarify.

If you purchase any SheCodes services on a Third Party marketplace, then the refund policies of that third party will be applicable. SheCodes is not responsible for refunding any payment made through a third-party affiliate.

Cancellation Policy
If you’ve subscribed to a monthly installment payment plan and are unable to finish it due to extenuating circumstances, then it’s possible for the SheCodes team to cancel your subscription as we deem necessary. However, you’ll forfeit the payment(s) you’ve already paid and will lose access to your SheCodes account.

Please note: you’ll need to make sure you have completed enough monthly payments to cover the workshop costs to which you’ve already gained access.

Please contact us if you have any questions about our Refund or Cancellation Policy.
