Is SheCodes a coding bootcamp? π€
We get this question a lot! πββοΈ From the beginning, we have always aimed to cultivate a learning atmosphere that is slightly different from a typical coding bootcamp.
SheCodes is focused on fostering
a community of active learners with dedicated technical and customer support.
Getting to know our students and their needs is important to us and we love to see what they are doing during and after their time with SheCodes. (

How are SheCodes workshops different from many coding bootcamps?
SheCodes coding classes are called
workshops because they
involve active learning, a welcoming group of women learning beside you from around the world, and
focus on skill-based portfolio ready projects. (
Check out some of our students' projects) Watching videos can be helpful but
hands-on coding is irreplaceable!
Prices for coding courses and bootcamps range from free websites with little to no user support and in-person courses that cost upwards of $12,000. SheCodes is happy to be
an affordable option that offers personalized customer and technical support for every student. Live or in-person classes have their benefits but the flexibility is lost. At SheCodes, students have the flexibility to watch their lessons and submit their challenges and homework anytime during the week and can easily ask for extensions when life gets too busy.Β
Completion rates for coding bootcamps vary greatly depending on things like the availability of support and the cost of the classes.
Many online coding courses have very low completion rates, with 10% or less being common.
SheCodes is proud to maintain a student completion rate of more than 92%. Instead of an in-browser code editor like many bootcamps use, SheCodes teaches students how to use VS Code, which is what professional developers use. (
Read our guide here to learn more about finding a job in tech) We also encourage students to research new code online (and explain how to research) so SheCoders can learn to add new functions and features to their personal projects outside of our classes. By teaching how real developers work,
our students leave the workshops prepared to work in a professional tech workplace.
Total beginners and those who already know a little about coding alike flourish in the SheCodes online classroom. We hear from students who tried other programs before coming to SheCodes that those classes were too difficult without an existing foundation of coding knowledge.
If you have zero coding knowledge, you won't get lost during your SheCodes classes.
A lot of our students still refer to SheCodes as a coding bootcamp but we arenβt preparing anyone for war - just a new job in the tech world! πΒ
