Natasha is from Houston, Texas. She spends half of her year in Houston and half of the year in Lisbon, Portugal. She studied Business and Sociology in university and has had a plethora of jobs across many different fields, including Project Control, Marketing, Management, Business Development, and Business Analysis. Over the years, she’s worked with many developers, but has struggled with how to best work with them and has faced gaps in understanding.
“I've worked around and with a lot of coders over the years. I tend to be in charge of communications and business development in a lot of the organizations I've worked for - from corporate, to social enterprises, to family business. With that, I am usually responsible for updating company websites. I would always find it aggravating that I didn't know how to fix the sites myself and would have to rely on others. I would often play with the code to try to adjust different aspects but was always super worried about messing it up - I never felt fully equipped. I always felt like I was one button away from messing everything up and I didn’t like feeling like I needed to rely on someone else to fix these problems. Coding was something that was in the back of my mind for 6/7 years but I never pursued it.”
But then Natasha found SheCodes and her coding excitement was ignited! It was just what she needed to fill her coding curiosity.
“I had time to fill and was just working on my own consulting work. I was craving a different kind of mental stimulation and I knew coding could create that for me.”
