Based in Attica, Greece 🇬🇷, Dimitra spent over seven years building exceptional customer experiences before a growing curiosity for technology and a love of problem-solving pulled her toward coding. Away from the screen, she has a creative streak: she practices origami, which helps her relax and challenge herself with intricate designs, and she has spent the past four years learning Japanese, drawn in by the language and the culture behind it. 🎌 

Before SheCodes, Dimitra worked as a Senior Customer Experience Specialist. Her days were full of cross-functional collaboration, troubleshooting problems for both customers and internal teams, and finding practical solutions under pressure. She wrote clear documentation to streamline processes, mentored new team members, and juggled many tasks at once. Those strengths in communication, problem-solving, and multitasking would later carry straight into her work as a developer. 

Her move into coding started with a simple question she kept asking herself. Whenever she submitted a ticket or worked through an issue with the technical teams, she found herself wondering what happened on the other side. Over time, that curiosity grew into something bigger. 

SheCodes found Dimitra at exactly the right moment. Just as she was starting to think about learning to code, a Facebook ad appeared in her feed. What stood out was how welcoming the workshops looked next to other resources, which often felt intimidating, and how strong and supportive the female community around SheCodes was. She started with the free SheCodes Express intro class to get a feel for it, then decided to dive into the first workshop, SheCodes Basics, just to see how it went, and finished it in two days. That was all the confirmation she needed to upgrade to a higher-tier workshop, SheCodes Plus! 🚀 

What she loved most was the structure. The bite-sized lessons and exercises made learning feel manageable and genuinely fun, and every lesson built toward a final project. There was always guidance when she needed it, but also plenty of room to explore and get creative. She never felt alone along the way, and she was especially proud of her final projects, like this one from SheCodes Responsive. Each project gave her the chance to apply everything she had learned, build something of her own, and see just how much progress she had made. 

One moment stands out above the rest. Dimitra had been feeling overwhelmed by the idea of pulling external data into her projects until the lessons on APIs finally clicked. When she managed to pull live data from a public API into her final project and saw it display correctly, it felt like a huge victory. 🎉 

Today, Dimitra works as a Full-Stack Umbraco Developer at DotSee, part of the GrowCreate group. She develops and maintains Umbraco projects with C# and .NET, working across controllers, views, view models, and dependency injection, and handling XML and JSON through C#. She fixes bugs, builds new features, and puts her CSS and JavaScript skills to work on existing projects. A big part of her role is supporting clients directly, resolving both front-end and back-end issues, and collaborating closely with the delivery and management teams to keep projects moving.

SheCodes still shows up in her daily work, especially through the cheat sheets from the workshops. They have become go-to references for coding concepts and best practices, and whenever she needs a quick reminder or hits a tricky problem, she reaches for them. They give her a confidence boost and help her deliver quality work faster.

The biggest change, though, was internal. SheCodes gave Dimitra a deep, lasting sense of confidence and the belief that the only real limits are the ones we place on ourselves. She now approaches challenges with a growth mindset in coding and well beyond it.

Dimitra's advice to future SheCodes students comes straight from her own experience: persevere and embrace the challenges. When something feels unfamiliar, she learned, the best thing you can do is search for answers and try to work through it yourself. That process of exploration is not only how you learn; it is also a big part of the fun.
