How SheCodes helped Sara transition from Content Project Manager to Web Project Manager!

Meet Sara 🇵🇹! Originally from Portugal and currently living in Lisbon, Sara enjoys spending time with her loved ones, especially going out for lunch or dinner with family. 🍽️
Before starting her coding journey, Sara worked as a Content and Project Manager at a digital marketing agency. Her role involved planning and managing content-related projects, working with teams to deliver results, and collaborating with web developers to bring ideas to life.
Over time, Sara realized that to communicate more effectively with her developer colleagues, she needed a better understanding of how websites are built. That’s when she decided to learn how to code. 💡
She discovered SheCodes through TikTok, and the fact that it was a coding workshop designed especially for women immediately caught her attention. Curious to learn more, she joined the SheCodes Free Coding Class — and by the end, she knew she had to give it a try. 🚀
👩💻 Her SheCodes Experience
Sara’s experience with SheCodes was smooth and enjoyable. She found the workshops easy to understand and appreciated how well they were designed. Everything was explained step by step, which made learning feel clear and natural. She felt like she was truly learning a lot with every new lesson. ✨ ”The best part of my SheCodes experience was how easy it was to understand and learn with the SheCodes Workshops. They are very well designed and we really learn a lot."
One memorable moment for Sara happened when she was stuck on a project. As she was about to fall asleep, the solution suddenly popped into her mind! 😄 Even though she really wanted to jump out of bed and try it right away, she waited until the next morning to fix the issue.
“Once I was stuck on a project, and then, when I was about to sleep, suddenly I remembered the solution to my problem. Although I had the desire to go immediately to the computer, I behaved myself, and only solved it the next morning.”
She also remembers a funny moment when she spent the whole day coding without even noticing the time. When she finally looked up, it was already 6 pm! That’s when she realized just how much she was enjoying the process. ❤️
🙋 How SheCodes has Helped to Change Her Life
With SheCodes, Sara gained the coding knowledge she needed to take an exciting step forward in her career. She landed a role as a Lead Generation Campaigns Specialist, where she worked on developing marketing campaigns and often had to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to achieve the right results. 💡
“ In this role, I had to develop marketing campaigns on a platform, and several times I had to insert code (HTML, CSS, and JS) to get the desired outcome.”
Even though she recently started a new position, Sara shared that her previous role required basic coding skills on a regular basis. Without SheCodes, she wouldn’t have had the chance to join that project or take on those responsibilities.
“In my previous position, it was necessary to know how to code. If I hadn’t attended the SheCodes workshops, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to join the project and the company.”
Thanks to the workshops, she felt confident applying her coding skills in a professional setting, proving to herself that she could learn something new and put it into action. We’re so proud of how far she’s come! 🎉
👩💼 Advice to Future SheCodes Student
Sara’s advice for future SheCodes students is to start as soon as possible — don’t wait too long to dive in! 🙂 She still has the React workshop left to complete and encourages others not to put it off once they begin their learning journey.
One of the most powerful impacts SheCodes had on Sara’s life was helping her believe in herself. Before starting, she never imagined she could learn how to code — let alone work in a technical role.
”SheCodes made me believe that I was able to work as a web developer or in another technical position. Some time ago, if someone told me that I would now know how to code, I would have called them crazy.”
She also had a chance to share her knowledge with others. In her previous job, she helped a colleague solve a coding issue in a campaign and even supported her through a SheCodes workshop. 💪 Encouraging others and seeing them enjoy the learning experience was a proud and joyful moment for her.
Sara’s story is a reminder that with the right support and mindset, anyone can learn to code and grow in ways they never expected. 🌟
