Before taking the SheCodes Responsive course, I had a basic understanding of HTML and CSS, but my websites looked clunky on different devices. This course completely changed that! I learned the fundamentals of responsive design in a clear and engaging way, with plenty of hands-on practice through small challenges and a final project. The instructor, Matt Delac, explained complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way, using real-world examples and humor to keep things engaging. The course wasn't just theory. We practiced our skills with weekly challenges and built a multi-page responsive website as our final project. This helped me solidify my understanding and gain real-world experience. I just wanted to share my experience with the SheCodes Basic Course after three weeks of studying as an absolute beginner. I can't believe how far I've come in such a short amount of time! Before starting this course, I couldn't even imagine that I could start coding in just three weeks. The SheCodes Basic Course has been an incredible learning journey for me. The way the course is structured makes it easy for even a complete novice like me to grasp the fundamentals of coding. I had an enriching learning experience completing my most recent React Development workshop with SheCodes in September 2022. I was able to strengthen my skills in front-end development through the process of building a new and improved weather app. I look forward to putting my newly acquired skills to the test as I venture out into the world and make my first steps toward my first creative career. With my SheCodes certifications under my belt, I was able to join my university's marketing team as a web associate, build a new website for a non-profit, and more, all while working towards my undergraduate degree. SheCodes Plus was another incredibly valuable workshop. This online workshop format delivers well-structured and sophisticated content, which has been motivating and interesting since day one. Learning the fundamentals of HTML, page styling with advanced CSS techniques and page animation with more sophisticated JavaScript functions and applying those techniques instantaneously on a real-life project is a perfect way of taking it all in. Learning how to integrate APIs into my code fetching real data and how to get into a development workflow using code management tools that professionals use, felt pretty amazing, while designing and building my own fully functioning weather app.
I 100% recommend SheCodes, especially to beginners. I had so much fun learning how to code. Matt is an amazing teacher and the lessons are a lot of fun. I can't wait for my next workshop!

Learning the basics of coding really wasn't easy ,it was frustrating at times but as soon as I got to understand what I was doing, coding became fun. I believe the challenges I faced allowed me to gain critical skills which I know are crucial in the world of tech. This is my second SheCodes Add-on, which I found quite important, due to the complexities of learning how to understand universal time zones or the world clock. From what I hear other software engineers say, time zones can be tricky and troublesome when you run into problems with different rules and combinations of rules. I highly recommend trying this course and getting familiar with coding dates and times. I had fun with this project!
At first it was overwhelming because I hardly knew anything about coding but I got the hang of it so quickly, soon it was fun and challenging, which I enjoyed.
Great experience and I love it. So happy that Matt was able to explain that coding is fun, doesn't require math, and anyone can do it.

Another fantastic workshop and end project. There were parts of this that I found a little difficult but after going back and working through what I did It didnt take long to find the problem. I enjoyed this project lots of fun and feels really good to have built something that looks as if Id find it on any big travel site!
I love that the class is essentially self-directed with deadlines and support. Makes it feel like a live class and I am really enjoying coding. It's fun and challenging and I can for-see this being something I do long-term.

It's a really fun a quick way to learn the basics of coding! The quick interval of learning and then applying what you have just learnt makes the material stick and the progress quick!

WOW SheCodes Plus has been one hell of a journey 😅 I'm so proud of my weather app! 🌈 There were times I thought I might throw my laptop out the window but then I would find the bug causing the problem and honestly, this is the most satisfying feeling. It's funny how convinced you can get that the whole thing is just wrong and it'll literally be ONE semi-colon or something equally tiny that's missing that breaks the whole thing. Anyway, thanks again Matt, your ability to deliver complex information in bitesize chunks is great and being able to see our project get upgraded more and more as we apply what we're learning is a great way to see our skillset grow. I'm still challenged by a lot of the JS stuff but the repetition involved has gotten me to a point I didn't think I would ever get to when I first started SheCodes Plus.

Building the weather application in React was tricky but the step-by-step videos broke down the process. I am proud that I have learnt to use React and used functions, use states and Axios for this project.
So far it has been super easy to learn. All weeks are very well structured, and the method of presenting new information is fun and motivating to learn even more. Also, i find very interesting the way we are teased to go learn on our own and it really feels like a game to me. Pretty happy by now :) I'm excited to see what's next!

Shecodes crossed my path through my TikTok 'for you page', the gal was talking about a free coding workshop. I thought "It's free, why not check it out?". I missed the live workshop and to my surprise, I received a email with a recording of the workshop. While watching the workshop, I was thoroughly engaged through the entire video and thought "Oh my goodness, this is cool!" I knew I wanted to learn coding! I immediately contacted Shecodes to register. Silly me, I choose to start the workshop right before the holidays, which halted my progress a bit. After the beginning of the year, I began to focus. Learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript through the basics workshop has been exciting although I didn't realize it was going to come with some other emotional experiences. It was fun, challenging and frustrating; I even cried a few times. Through all of it, figuring things out, being able to complete the challenges and the homework; then have everything make sense with the Project is beyond personally rewarding! Building a functional weather app with APIs was no doubt one of the hardest projects I've ever worked on. However, the sense of accomplishment, and feeling proud of the work I've done are indescribable. SheCodes continues to amaze me with all the well-structured lessons and awesome tools.
I really enjoyed this basics course. It was fun and informative. It made the world of coding a little less daunting and I liked experimenting with different techniques. I struggled at times to fit in the course around my work (12 hour shifts!) but extending deadlines was very easy and more importantly, non-judgemental.
