I really enjoyed building this dictionary. It was a great opportunity to practice React and APIs while creating something useful. I also became a little obsessed with components and kept looking for ways to break the project into smaller, reusable pieces. It was really satisfying to see all the different parts come together!
It was challenging building this dictionary with React and two APIs and I learnt a lot from it. I would like to find out next if there's a way to hide the images for abstract words as they can be confusing.

I really enjoyed this workshop. I liked being able to build on each concept and explore by myself. By the end, I felt much more confident using React and applying what I learned.
This project was a great opportunity to put my React and JavaScript skills into practice. I learned how to work with APIs, manage state, pass data between components, and create a responsive interface for different screen sizes. It was challenging at times, especially when connecting the different components and debugging the application, but solving these problems step by step made me much more confident. I loved the React part of the SheCodes bootcamp. It took me from components and props all the way to building and deploying my own weather app with a 5-day forecast. Challenging, but so enjoyable β and I learned a huge amount along the way.
This add-on class was a great way to build on what I learned in React by creating a Dictionary App using two APIs, useState, and map(). I learned to display definitions, examples, synonyms, and photos for the searched words, which gave me more practice with React, APIs, and loops.
I really enjoyed this React class because I learned how to build a reactive weather app while gaining hands-on experience with loops, useState, useEffect, and Axios. The class helped me better understand React and gave me more confidence in building interactive web applications.
Iβm so happy to have completed the SheCodes React Add-on and reached the end of my React journey with SheCodes! React has definitely been one of the more challenging technologies Iβve learned. I didnβt find it as easy to click with as some of the other languages Iβve worked with, and there were definitely moments where I felt frustrated or unsure of myself. But I kept working through the challenges, debugging my code, and trying to understand not just what was going wrong, but why. Throughout the React Add-on, Iβve gained a much better understanding of components, props, state, APIs, and how everything comes together to create a working application. Iβve also become much more comfortable with making mistakes, researching errors, and figuring things out for myself, which I know is such an important part of learning to code. Iβm really proud of myself for sticking with React and finishing the course, especially when it didnβt always come easily. Looking back at where I started, I can see how much Iβve learned and how much more confident I am with coding. Completing this certificate feels like a really exciting milestone in my coding journey. Iβm looking forward to taking everything Iβve learned from SheCodes and continuing to build my skills, create more projects, and see where my journey into tech takes me next!
React Add-on helped me understand API integration better. I loved seeing how much functionality the use of an API could help/add to your project. Watching everything respond well to each function call is pretty AMAZING!π€©
Before joining SheCodes, coding felt intimidating. Now it's become one of my favorite hobbies and something I genuinely look forward to every day. Took me a little longer to complete but I really enjoyed learning react.
DEFINITELY by far the hardest module to complete. Nice way to use "save the [hardest] for last" here. Overall, the challenges were fun to build. Had some trouble with the initial setup of 'react' in the terminal along with the 'weather API' for the last 2 weeks of the build. With patience and carefully going through the lessons to comprehend which aspects of the SheCodes Weather API to integrate into the functions- it got better. Using 'console.log' helps a lot. After a minor meltdown, a few migraines and a total 'brain fry' moment, all is well.
It was a challenging course, but pushing through the lessons and completing the final project has improved my skills in React and my overall approach to coding
Learning React has been one of the more challenging parts of my coding journey so far. Compared to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, React took me longer to understand, and I found myself needing to spend extra time working through concepts such as components, state, props, and handling API data. Although it didn't come as naturally to me as some of the previous languages I have learned, I gradually developed a solid understanding of how React works. As I continued building projects and troubleshooting errors, I became more confident in breaking down problems and understanding how different parts of an application work together. While I know there is still plenty to learn, completing React has given me a good foundation to build on. It has also reinforced the importance of persistence, patience, and problem solving when learning new technologies. Overall, the experience has been rewarding, and I feel more prepared to continue developing my React skills through future projects and real world experience.

Moments like that made all the effort worthwhile and reminded me why I wanted to learn coding in the first place. This SheCodes journey has not always been easy, but it has been deeply rewarding from beginning to end. I am especially proud that at 54, I have fulfilled an ambition I have had for years: to build responsive websites myself. That means so much to me personally, because it proves that it is never too late to learn something new and challenge yourself in a completely different field. I cannot thank the SheCodes team enough for the way the lessons are taught and structured. Being able to learn at my own pace made such a difference, and knowing that there is always real human support when questions come up made me feel supported throughout the process. A great final challenge making the React dictionary which included many professional techniques. Building each section was very satisfying. I was really pleased with the final result. I am proud of what I have achieved. I have learned so much not least how to build methodically and how to troubleshoot effectively.
What started as a simple dictionary application evolved into an AI-powered multilingual learning tool with translations, pronunciation audio, image search, and theme switching. Seeing everything come together after weeks of development was incredibly satisfying. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who wants practical, hands-on experience building real-world React applications.

The React Add-on week was the most fun I had in the whole Bootcamp. After the earlier weeks β which honestly tested my patience with a lot of debugging β everything started to click here. By the end I had a polished project that integrates three different APIs and actually looks like mine. A solid, project-based intro to React β by the end I had a live, deployed weather app pulling real data, which felt worthwhile. I'll be honest that it was harder than expected: much of my time went into debugging and wrestling with setup rather than learning new concepts. It tested my patience, but working through those problems is probably where I learned the most. Worth knowing going in that the struggle with tooling and debugging is part of the process, not a sign you're doing it wrong.
Iβm really proud of myself for completing the SheCodes React course. Before starting, React felt overwhelming and I struggled to understand how everything connected, especially working with components, state, and APIs. But step by step, the lessons helped me build real confidence. One of my biggest achievements was building my own weather app from scratch. Studying Front-End Development at SheCodes was a turning point for me. I originally came from a psychology background and decided to pursue a career change into tech, initially believing I would learn full-stack development. Throughout the bootcamp, I gained skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, React, Responsive Design, and APIs. The biggest challenge was making such a drastic career shift, but the learning experience was so engaging and accessible that I never lost motivation. What I enjoyed most was seeing my progress, adding my own creativity to projects, and becoming confident enough to continue learning independently. Although I am still searching for my first opportunity in tech, I truly believe this journey is already changing my life.

This course really pushed me, but in a way that made me want to keep going.
I started SheCodes as a complete beginner with no coding experience, and it has been a truly transformative journey. Through SheCodes Basic, I got my first hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, building confidence one lesson at a time. This one was tougher! It definitely challenged me, but I loved every minute of it. Also, using React and breaking the code into components really made JavaScript make more sense. This is the point where I had given up the first time I tried SheCodes 4 years ago. I'm so glad I came back to it and pushed through. I really think I can start trying to turn this into a career!

This was the final project and definitely one of the most challenging ones, mainly because there was a lot of trial and error (a lot of error mainly). I like the results and seeing how far I've come in understanding React.

I loved going beyond the brief: I designed the empty state from scratch with a custom animated SVG illustration, and added small details like synonym chips. React keeps inspiring me to build more. The SheCodes React course has been an incredible six weeks. Matt has a rare ability to take complex concepts and make them feel approachable, always guiding you through the journey step by step, no matter the challenge. React has been the most challenging but enjoyed the tasks and learning a new tool.
I'm so happy to have finally completed the React course. I learned so much! I'm excited to continue my journey into React because (although I struggled) I did find it to be a little simpler to use than vanilla JavaScript.
This project has helped me reinforce my existing programming knowledge and take a closer look at React. Specifically, it helped me with: Practising project organisation: deciding what should be a component and identifying the main file where all the pieces come together. Understanding the purpose of hooks: useState() and useEffect(). Making API calls (SheCodes Weather API). Practising JSX (HTML with JS). Deepening my understanding of styling and experimenting with color palettes. A few years ago I built a weather app with vanilla JS and found it quite tedious. Back then I also paid little attention to styling. I just wanted it to work. Now, with a solid grasp of the fundamentals and using React, which simplifies the code considerably, I was able to focus much more on UX/UI. Overall, a very worthwhile course. It has its complexity. React, API calls, asynchronous functions but the project is small enough that the architecture never becomes overwhelming.
This workshop pushed me to my limits with React! Iβm thrilled to have built a fully responsive weather app with live API integration and unit toggling. Itβs a great feeling to see complex code turn into a useful, working tool.

This workshop was lots of fun. I've come out with a real appreciation for the utility of open API's! As rightly mentioned repeatedly throughout the course, there's certainly a learning curve for every API. Additionally, some are objectively much better and more user friendly than others! However, once you've deciphered them, the possibilities are endless. I'm also a converted mega fan of React, as I think the developers have done a fantastic job of interpolating JavaScript into HTML in such a way that is a lot more intuitive and user friendly! I've come away from this course with a really cool set of new skills and I can't wait to test them out and improve!
Completing the Advanced React add-on was a great experience. It helped me strengthen my understanding of React and build more interactive applications with confidence. I really enjoyed the hands-on project of dictionary app. This course has taken my coding skills to the next level.
Learning React proved to be the most challenging aspect of my journey so far. I appreciate the support, patience, and knowledge-sharing from the SheCodes team, which significantly helped my understanding of this framework.
This was admittedly a challenging workshop, but extremely worth it! I'm really pleased with my final project. As with all the previous workshops, the guidance and support from the team was excellent. Matt does a really great job of breaking things down in order to explain the "plumbing" of how a react app works and describing what the code is doing at certain stages, (such as in the case of how the props are passing through to the other components and how the useStates help to set and define the data for further functions to operate). It made it really accessible and digestible to someone who still feels relatively new to coding!
The final project was really effective at balancing guidance and student application on new founded React skills. This was a highly rewarding challenge.

You will need a lot of supplemental studying and self-teaching to understand React. This course moves too fast. I'd strongly recommend taking this course immediately after SheCodes Plus. If you complete the Python course first, you risk forgetting the JavaScript fundamentals you need here.
