SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

I enjoyed the course and have gained a much better understanding of coding. I think the average estimated hours given for the 3 week course were quite inaccurate for me and it was much more time consuming than I was prepared for it to be. Whilst the videos are good, they are not always very clear and seemed to deliberately leave things out as a challenge. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I personally felt the slack channel wasn't a very fast or reliable method of support and so these regular gaps of information became frustrating at times. We are also encouraged to search Google for help, but the issue there is that many sites were discussing coding terms and techniques we hadn't learned so any methods suggested for certain issues didn't seem like viable options. Overall, I think it's a good course and I enjoyed it, but would advise anyone doing it with no prior coding knowledge to ensure they have time to dedicate to it.

I was a complete beginner when i started and can't believe how much i've learnt in just 3 weeks, and also how much i've enjoyed it. It is so well explained, i've honestly enjoyed every minute and can't wait to get started with SheCodes Pro. Thank you Matt and team.

Learning the basics of coding has been quite a journey. Never have I ever thought I'd have so much fun and satisfaction trying to figure out what is and isn't working with my code after I've written it. Amazing!!

I absolutely love this programme. It really helped me realise just how fun and creative coding can be! The challenges and homeworks allow you to put your newfound coding knowledge to work and I really like how the final project is based on our interests. Matt teaches these lessons really well and it keeps you engaged. I initially was hesitant about getting into tech, but this has really encouraged me to pursue it. I have really enjoyed the beginners coding workshop. Although I found it challenging at times, it was also very rewarding to solve something you've been stuck on. I am now enrolled for the next workshop and can't wait to learn more!

I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy coding, but I actually found myself falling in love with it. I highly recommend SheCodes to anyone who's looking to change a career.

I have just completed the SheCodes Basics workshop and would recommend to anyone who is interested in coding. I definitely think this is something I would like to get into career wise now, the course is well managed and with lots of help if you need.

I have LOVED doing this course and it felt like a natural continuation of the skills learned in the first two courses. Making a responsive site from scratch has really shown the power of all the techniques learned and the end result has been hugely rewarding. I cannot recommend SheCodes enough for anyone who wants to start to learn how to code! It's an incredible workshop that involves a lot of interaction, challenges and help from the online community! Now, I cant wait to join SheCodes Plus and React.

It's been a few years since I've used code to build a website and SheCodes has been great for reminding me of the basics and challenging me to develop my skills further. Matt is explaining why things work (or don't) as well what guiding you through what to do. The short exercises are great for layering up your knowledge.

The course has been really easy to follow. I have learnt more in the last three weeks than I have in the last year trying to pick it up myself! I know that the learning I have already accomplished is going to help me progress in my career as a designer and I am looking forward to getting started on the next course!

I was interested in coding but I found it hard to get started. SheCodes made coding engaging and accessible for beginners! In 3 weeks, I have learned a lot and also gained enough confidence that I want to continue learning to code. Matt is a great instructor who describes step-by-step and provides many tips on the best software and how to make your coding experience easier. The team were also helpful and replied fast when I was stuck.

Awesome course! Can't believe that I can now code with JS script and make a perfectly functional weather app! Some parts are definitely hard and tricky, but you stick with it and get through! Highly recommend!

This three-week introduction to coding has been a blast. I've tried other classes, but Matt from SheCodes makes everything easy to comprehend! I believe that deadlines provide structure and hold me accountable. I've signed up to learn more, and I'm looking forward to seeing where these new abilities will take me.

I knew some basic HTML years back so wanted to check if I still like it. The answer is definitely yes! I am busy with other courses and new job at the moment, but will be back for more advanced courses definitely. Great course, easy to follow, but challenging enough too!

SheCodes has been a great introduction to coding for me and I have found it a fun and flexible way to learn a new skill around my full time job. The insight I gained on the workshop showed me coding is a skill I would like to take further and it gave me the confidence to apply for a role on the development team at my workplace. I am now part of team creating a reading game application for pupils in school to help advance their reading level.

SheCodes is a great introduction to coding and the workshops allow for lots of chances to practise what you have learnt and ultimately create your own website.

I really enjoyed doing the SheCodes workshops, for me it opened up more possibilities for the future and it got me over the fear that I won't be able to learn how to code. It's a great oportunity for anyone who wants to try something new. I feel more confindent now than before.

I had never before tried coding and was quite scared this workshop would be too difficult for me. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience where not only I learned a lot, I also had fun while doing so thanks to the easy-to-follow videos that explain everything perfectly.

I have found this hard so far, with the exception of week 3s homework. I feel that some of the people at shecodes maybe think I knew more about coding then I did as when I have asked questions- I get a polite response, but often still felt stuck afterwards and have had to ask for many extensions so far which I did not want to have to do when I started the course..I feel this is not best suited to a complete beginner, as in my opinion, so far it has been such a struggle to get this far.. getting to week three has taken about two months or so..

It's been a great experience. I've learnt a lot about myself and gained skills beyond coding. I am excited to see what the future brings. There is still more to learn. This is only the beginning.

I never thought that coding would be so fun. I actually wanted to try something new that does not feel like me, and therefore I chose SheCodes, but now I can trully say that after the workshop I really like coding.

Really enjoyed the beginners course. It was a great little introduction to the world of coding broken down into bite size chunks.

SheCodes basic has been a very informative and hands-on experience - I have tried many other coding learning resources before but ultimately kept on forgetting the content and then getting frustrated, SheCodes has not only helped my keep accountable with regular deadlines, but also the compulsory hands-on experience has been brilliant for information retention. I had been worried that the 'basics' course may be too dumbed down, but that wasn't the case at all (substantial but not intimidating!). The reasons however, for why I have given four stars instead of five, is that the pacing during the course could be improved on (loads of content during the first week and significantly less during the following weeks), as well as the 'cost for content' ratio. However, I have still thoroughly enjoyed and benefitted from the experience, and am looking forward to studying the later courses : )

SheCodes proved that coding is not only for people with tech background and is not too complicated to learn. The lessons are bite-sized and not overwhelming, not stiff/boring at all and we can do it in our own pace. Excited for the next workshop.

I've really enjoyed learning to code with SheCodes. The pace is just right, and the Basics workshop is a fantastic introduction for an absolute beginner. I'm looking forward to the next stage of my coding journey with the Plus course.

First time learning code, very easy to follow with great exercises!

The workshop was amazing! The lessons are very well structured and easy to follow. I was about halfway through the SheCodes Basic workshop when I decided I wanted to continue with SheCodes Pro, and I am excited to continue learning! The support is great, and no question goes unanswered. For anyone wanting to learn how to code, I cannot recommend the workshop enough!

Fun and interactive way of learning something new.

I always had inclination towards coding. So, decided to change my career as a teacher to coder and hence joined "SheCodes". I just received my first certificate of SheCodes coding. I really enjoyed doing my project and am looking forward to complete my SheCodes pro. Thank you Matt and team!

I have enjoyed every aspect of this course and found it perfect for my needs. The mix of learning and projects was key, plus the constant support via email and Slack channels really helped! I would not hesitate to recommend SheCodes to others and will certainly be looking at the Pro course to expand my skills even further.

I wasn't as confident with coding to start off and found it extremely stressful, however completing this course with SheCodes has given me a whole different aspect on coding and now I really enjoy it, this is all thanks to SheCodes. Matts videos were extremely informative and the rest of the team are also very supportive, would recommend SheCodes to anyone who wants to enhance their coding skills or just want to try something new and get in to the world of coding :)

I would highly recommend this workshop for anyone remotely interested in learning how to code! It is ideal for women who work full time as the classes are completely flexible and you can work at your own pace. It has been so interesting working through challenges and thinking logically in order to get the code to work. I look forward to starting the next SheCodes workshop - on to SheCodes Plus!

Really great program for freshers

I found the SheCodes videos very easy to follow and go back to when needed. Matt’s explanations are clear and concise, a pleasure to listen to even at the end of the day after 8 hours of work!

The SheCodes basics workshop has most definitely helped me kick start my career in tech as it has always been a big passion of mine. Hopefully these few weeks I've spent on this workshop can help me develop my skills and later on join the SheCodes Plus workshop to deepen my knowledge to later on achieve my dream job at one of the big 4 tech companies.

I've always had an interest in coding, and as a marketing manager day-to-day it's really important I understand the fundamentals of managing and coding a website. Matt's instruction was really clear, and easy to follow step-by-step. There's also help if you get stuck on Slack too!

SheCodes was a brilliant intro to coding, I was a complete beginner before I started and now I have a solid foundation, would recommend!

I could not be happier with SheCodes Responsive. After I had completed SheCodes Plus React I felt there was a bit of a gap in how i could make any of my app's/projects work on different devices, and this course has honestly been my favourite. I would recommend it to anyone!

SheCodes provides deep quality knowledge. The way of working with the different lessons is highly interactive making sure you'll learn and apply all the information given. Being a self-paced course it lets you follow your own time being able to achieve any challenges proposed.

3 weeks well spent! I've learnt so much about HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The workshop was split into bitesize tutorials which I found really easy to follow and there is always someone in the SheCodes community to help you if you get stuck. Great intro to coding 😊

SheCodes was great! I feel like I have a strong understanding of the foundational elements of coding. The pace of the course was perfect, the content was clear and really helpful, and the practice lessons really allowed me to test and trial what I learned which was key in helping me retain the information! And it was fun! Highly recommend.

An excellent workshop! SheCodes taught me HTML, CSS and JavaScript in 3 weeks from scratch, and the instructor Mathieu produced very clear and easy to follow videos. The learning-by doing approach means that for each new skill learnt, I was able to practice with a challenge. Whenever I got stuck, there was always someone to help. Would recommend to everyone who wants to get ahead in tech :)

This course was great. I learnt alot and am now confident in doing basic coding.

A great introductory course, Matt explains things very effectively and insightfully. The explanations aren't just passively given to you but also explained in such a way that it makes you able to delve into it deeper and tinker with it if you so wish. The tools and methods are explained so that you know how to use them for more than the example shown. The bite-size structure of the course really helps me retain the information. It is a great introductory course and definitely encouraging me to learn more and continue the next journey. I've learnt so much in such a short time.

Have found it interesting learning about coding during the basic course

It's been a challenge but one I'm SO happy that i've committed to! I am a freelance marketer but am on maternity leave and hoping that by completing the SheCodes courses I can add more to my skillset and offer more to my clients which in turn means more money and a better life for my new little best friend!

Such a fun and exciting introduction to the world of coding. I always thought it was something very hard, but this course has given me a lot of confidence for starting my coding journey!

I highly recommend to take part in SheCodes Basics workshop. Matt is very good teacher and makes learning process enjoyable.

It is very easy to follow and understand his videos. I learnt the basics of coding in concise yet very clear and informative videos, which I will definitely continue with when I have more time. A very good source to use if you are new to coding and you are not sure where to start! The mini challenges and assignments cements your knowledge too.

A good introduction, can be challenging, needs time and effort but will be worth it :)

After completing the basic workshop I knew I needed to carry on with these courses. Never did I think I would be able to do what i've done in 8 weeks. I cant wait to carry on with the next workshops.

Having worked in the asset management and banking sector for over 5 years and with a desire to learn new skills and explore a different field someone very close to me insisted that Technology was the next best thing to learn about and get into. I wasn't entirely sure where to start but had always been curious about coding and webdevelopment and initially thought it would be too hard to learn or that it could take years to grasp. SheCodes has not only made the whole experience fun, but surprisingly I found it quite easy to catch on to and within a matter of weeks I have built my very own page from scratch. This is the first time I have completed a course and thoroughly enjoyed every single part!

Really delighted that I took the plunge and joined SheCodes! Thoroughly enjoyed the basics course and looking forward to moving on to the next. I love the little challenges and the support on slack has been useful.

This course was a lot of fun, it has helped me gain a basic understanding of the coding world. Parts are tricky but do not let that deter you, there is a lot to learn! I would recommend this programme to anyone who wants to learn and have fun doing so!

I am extremely pleased with the SheCodes Responsive course. After completing SheCodes Plus, I was hesitant about continuing but thankfully I kept going. This course focuses on creating responsive websites. Because it builds on previous knowledge, I noticed that each time I was faster at creating websites. I really loved creating my own portfolio and sending it to friends and family so they could check with any device. Thank you!

Coding can be scary and intimidating but not with SheCodes! An exciting and interesting course made for every single person. I am intrigued to see what comes next!
