This was so fun! Matt makes the process feel so easy and I had a great time just sailing along.
This weather application was built using React, and I enjoyed this workshop. I learned the basics of React and the value of components, which make my code more efficient and easier to manage using the single responsibility principle. I learned how to import and include components within each other, sending data (props) between them. I practiced extensively with passing properties between components to display data. I learned how to manage multiple files and worked with API integrations, effectively reading their response. I integrated two APIs in this project: one for the current weather and the second for the forecast. I practiced looping through arrays and focused on improving functions. Additionally, I learned how to read React error messages and make the necessary adjustments to debug my code.
The Basics course was amazing! I felt guided in every step of the way, and took advantage of all the resources SheCodes provided. I had so much fun through my first steps in coding :)

After diving into web development, I managed to successfully integrate all the critical features: a responsive search engine, real-time API integration, accurate temperature, wind speed, weather description, humidity, and dynamic weather icons that update based on the current conditions. I'm still amazed that I've come so far in coding. It might not be much to some people but to me it's a big deal. I can say "I'm a Coder" now π. Something that seemed so scary initially, but now it's so exciting and fun to do. Please don't get me wrong there definitely were challenges along the way but the more you understand the easier it gets. I kept going back to certain lessons/videos to understand better, it was worth it in the end. Making the dictionary app was really challenging & fun at the same time. By doing this project, it gives me a deeper understanding of integrating multiple APIs at once & allowing me to realise that how important integrating APIs are for websites.
As someone who is currently studying Applied Mathematics at University, within 3 weeks I got to learn and quickly grasp as well as thoroughly understand the basics concepts of HTML, CSS and JavaScript through SheCodes which is something that not even my university lectures could do. Matt indeed is an excellent instructor, he explains everything consisely and each lesson; though brief; is very insightful given that this page is made for busy women. I enjoyed every bit of learning and had a lot of fun doing the homework, the final project was the cherry on top. It also helps being open and broad, seeking information from external resources just as Matt instructed. I felt like a professional coder even though I knew that this is only just the beginning. The entire team collectively is very quick to attend to technical problems and quite inviting and respectful. This has been such a wonderful and exhilarating journey.
Taking the SheCodes Python Advanced course was such an eye-opening experience. Using different CSS background styles and different methods on Java Script which I have learnt and implemented to ensure that my coding is readable and fun. Incredibly interesting and fun. This workshop helped me realize how cool (and easy!) making a dropdown menu appear on a website can be. I've been using them for years and never thought one day I'd be able to build one! Also, working with time zones was probably my favorite part of all ("moment" rules!).
