I think the majority of this course needs to be re-recorded incorporating the SheCodes API. The Open Weather API is incredibly outdated and the majority of its features are no longer free. I spent hours trying to figure things out earlier on only to discover by week 5 that there is a SheCodes API, by which I have implemented features that are too dependent on the Open Weather API to be changed. I also think the whole Plan / Design / HTML / CSS parts of Week 7 and Week 8 need to be moved to earlier on. The homework in the earlier weeks already ask you to implement the final project, and it makes no sense that I am only receiving instructions (by which instructions are no longer needed because I have already figured out how to do things through StackOverflow) at Week 7. The work is redundant and unnecessary. I was able to get through the course fairly easily because I have pretty extensive coding experience but I must say the design of this course is a let-down.

This is the third SheCodes workshop I have completed, and it has been the most enjoyable so far! Having previously accomplished the SheCodes Plus workshop, I was excited to take on another challenge and further enhance my front-end development skills. This workshop is an incredible introduction to responsive design, multiple-page hosting, SEO, and more. Not only were the homework exercises engaging, but the final project was the most rewarding experience I have had (so far) learning with SheCodes. The online portfolio is an excellent way to showcase your coding progress and demonstrate the range of knowledge gained throughout the workshops. I can't wait to move on to the next course: SheCodes React!

I enjoyed this month of learning html, css and Javascript. It was easy to navigate through lessons, was easy to understand how to do homework and was fun doing projects in the end of each week. The information was very clear and easy to understand. I would recommend this course to other beginners.
Learning to code is a lot of fun, but also very challenging. SheCodes, the team and Matt do a great job here and explain in detail how things work, but also give you the opportunity to figure out a few things by yourself or let's say let you try. But even if you are not able to do it by yourself at some point you have support helping you and always get a solution for the challenge/homework you had. This way you see exactly what has been down. Great workshop!! Lessons are clear and short with step-by-step explanations so you can easily follow. A big plus for the flexibility regarding lessons, homework, deadlines (not always easy to meet when you have other activities). I was already a little familiar with some of the coding languages and this course only confirmed my will to pursue a career in that area :-)

This was such an amazing journey! I started with some trepidation about understanding or even being able to execute code and I went from that to building my own landing page! I enjoyed the structure of SheCodes video lessons. They gave enough detail to understand the concepts, while being short enough to keep your attention, and stay manageable. I enjoyed the small challenges and homework, because these were great ways to practice the concepts.
i have learnt alot from this programme, when i started i had little knowledge on developing web pages, now i am competing in the challenges which helps in practicing my coding. The homework and challenges really pushed me to research and implement new concepts.
There were so many things that I wished would have been different, that it would take me a really long time to mention them all. Most importantly: I really thing the videos should be revised. There are things that are outdated (like using clearfix) and no longer in use, tools that now have different versions (like bootstrap and netlify) which makes it harder to follow through the videos. But the lowest point is the lack of proper feedback on homework and (even more shocking for me) the final projects. It's "your solution works" kind of feedback. Personally, as someone who is learning to code, it's not *just* about the code working, I could really use feedback on how I could write it more clearly, etc. Otherwise I could just use an html/css/js validator and get pretty much the same answer. It's really a shame and I hope it changes in the future, because otherwise what's the difference between doing this or a full curse on udemy that costs 15€? One really wonders. Also bear in mind that unless you have nothing else going on in your life, 5 days a week is not enough to complete the week.
Thankful to have the opportunity to study the basics of coding. It was a nice experience. Grateful that there were options for extension especially when real life takes so much of my time, and for the feedback being given to my homework and projects. Looking forward to learning more here.
As a person who has a hard time self-learning, especially with CS, SheCodes's short-video format and simplistic yet detailed-enough explanations really motivated me to start and develop my HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills. I especially love this class format with required challenges and homework to submit as it holds me accountable to learning coding skills associated with those languages very well, something I wouldn't necessarily have without this course.
Good introduction to basic HTML, CSS and Javascript. Videos and challenges are presented in a user friendly way however I think the support provided is lacking. Feedback on the homework is pre-defined responses with no personalisation. Whilst the Slack is good to seek help or to help other students, when the SheCode's staff get involved, they merely just fix the code for students without helping them understand what was wrong. I understand the principle of people trying to troubleshoot their own code and figure things out but for beginners, I think support to lay the foundations is very important. You could find all the information covered in this course online for free but if you're looking for the structure (which I was) it's a good starting point - albeit expensive for what it is.

This course has been challenging and hair pulling at times, however I have learnt a lot and even enjoyed myself. I am glad I was able to make it to the end of the course, understand new concepts, in HTML, CSS and JS, and be able to apply it in my homework and in my project.
The course was well-organized and easy to follow, especially the videos which are short and precise about the topic. The thing that made this platform unique is the fact that it has it all, like instructors that know the subject area well and explain it well so that everyone can understand within a short amount of time. There are homework's and projects to see your progress, and another platform called slack that help you communicate with other students/peers and the SheCodes team. I learned so much in a short amount of time even though I didn't have any prior knowledge about the subjects (html, CSS and JavaScript) before and now I'm already applying what I learned to my work. This workshop has been amazing, I started off so nervous not knowing anything about coding or what it entailed. SheCodes Basics was a great way to start learning Web Development! The lessons are thorough, easy to follow up and the homework and project really put together all the information we learned over the last weeks. Two of my favourite things about the last weeks: the way the course is designed still pushes you to research on your own, which I found challenging but rewarding. Also, the fact that the course allows for self management - you can choose the times that better suit you, there are deadlines but all the classes are recorded so people who work or have other responsibilities can manage to learn and build a new career for themselves. In SheCodes Plus I used SheCodes's team support in Slack many times and It was really useful. I think that this online support in doing homework is a very huge advantage. You may have access to many courses for coding but without friendly support to do exercises and homework you may become frustrated of struggling to fix the bugs.
Just finished SheCodes Basics, and there wasn't a moment when I felt like I couldn't understand it. Homework was fun to make. Before enrolling this workshop, I was sure of my knowledge of HTML & CSS, but any line of JS would make my brain go blank! And during the workshop, I could relisten and reread information about JS that was hard to understand, and eventually I got all lessons! Can't wait to start my next workshop 🤗

I recently participated in the SheCodes Plus coding workshop, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. Despite not being in a physical classroom, and somewhat challenging, the instructor did an excellent job of creating an engaging and interactive learning environment. The workshop was structured in a way that allowed for plenty of hands-on practice, with coding exercises, weekly homework and final project that challenged me to apply what I had learned. The online format allowed me to work at my own pace and revisit material as needed, which was incredibly helpful. Overall, I highly recommend this online coding workshop to anyone interested in learning to code or looking to improve their skills. The quality of instruction and the interactive format made for an enjoyable and rewarding experience that I would not hesitate to participate in again.
This was a fun and extremely challenging workshop. I had to use embed websites, images and video and a lot of CSS to make all the homework and the final project Responsive but I am very happy with the result. Matt's help was crucial as usual and I can't wait for the next chapter!

I am a very creative and curious person but also love things that require problem-solving and cognitive stimulation. When I found Shecodes, I didn't know what to expect. I wanted to try out coding and see what it would be like to create my own landing page from scratch, but I felt like I was diving into the 'deep-end' with no prior knowledge or experience. I thought I would have to be super intelligent and love maths/science to code. I was so wrong! Shecodes showed me how taking the risk was worth it. I fell in love with coding during the 3 weeks of trying it out! Matt and everyone at Shecodes provide a welcoming and supportive space for beginners and people of all skill levels to dive into coding. Matt's engaging and easy-to-follow video lessons, as well as the creative and fun challenges/homework provided, have meant that I have gained so much confidence over the 3-week course in a field that I thought I wouldn't thrive. SheCodes is an amazing platform for all women to become curious and be creative through interactive coding workshops! I am intrigued by technology, coding and digital development but also have a passion for gender equality, and so I love the ethos of Shecodes at what they are doing for women worldwide; from opening up potential career paths to women in a sector where female representation is sparse, to even providing people with a starting point to develop and flourish within a new hobby/ interest. I am now going to continue coding and maybe look into careers in the Tech industry. I'd highly recommend giving coding a shot, especially through a Shecodes workshop!
