SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

SheCodes was where I first learned how to code, and it played a major role in helping me land my first internship and later grow into a front-end developer and associate software engineer. I recently returned to explore the new add-ons, and once again, the experience reminded me why Matt is truly the GOAT when it comes to teaching code. This basics add-on was clear, practical, and packed with value Matt’s teaching style continues to stand out. Honestly, I think he’s underrated. Thank you, SheCodes, for being part of my journey!

SheCodes Week 1 has been an incredibly insightful experience for me as a beginner with no prior exposure to coding. I’ve learned so much from Matt’s lessons, and while there were moments when balancing work and meeting deadlines was challenging, I truly enjoyed the process. The challenge has been both rewarding and motivating.

Joining the SheCodes Basics Add-on was the perfect next step after completing the main Basics workshop. It helped me strengthen my HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills with more hands-on projects and real-world challenges. The explanations were clear, and I loved how each lesson built on what I had already learned. This add-on gave me more confidence to apply my coding knowledge on my own. I really liked the challenges of learning React and building complex functions. Doing this project made a lot of fun, despite being slightly more difficult than the other projects. I'm really happy!

This workshop was short and straightforward yet there was a lot to learn, Matt is such a great instructor. During the duration of this workshop, I didn't struggle at all because of my previous project and how it's really quite easy to learn and apply.

I enjoyed diving into CSS Grids, discovering how effectively they can be used to layout webpages precisely as desired, offering a fantastic alternative to frameworks like Bootstrap. Learning to integrate embeds seamlessly and acquiring advanced techniques for creating truly responsive designs across all devices has significantly elevated my web development skills. I now feel much more confident in building professional, adaptable online portfolios.

Seeing how many new skills I had learned after the previous project was very inspiring and motivating!

The She Codes Basics Add-on Workshop was a very hands-on. I was challenged in many ways and it did push me to do more. I have achieved a sense of confidence in applying HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I’m excited to keep building on what I’ve learned and continue my journey in web development with confidence.

I absolutely loved learning to code this project! It had the perfect level of challenge - complex enough to be rewarding but not overwhelming. The end result looks amazing and I'm so proud of what I've created. The entire process was incredibly enjoyable!

When l was learning how to code on you tube and other free platforms,l was finding it hard to understand some of the things,So l thought to myself that maybe coding is not for me, but when l heard of SheCodes on Facebook by other ladies praising it l thought ok let me give it a try,and now l can witness together with those ladies that truly SheCodes is the goat. The tutorials are very simple to understand in such a way that even a person with zero idea of coding will definately love coding.

I had never coded before, but the way the course is structured made it fun and easy to follow. The more I learned, the more I enjoyed it—and now I’m excited to keep growing in my coding journey! The team was also really accommodating when I needed an extension due to health reasons, which I really appreciated. This was the perfect place to start, and I’m looking forward to what’s next!

Completing the SheCodes Basics course and learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript has been a truly transformative journey. I now understand how websites are structured, styled, and made interactive. What once felt overwhelming now feels exciting and empowering. I'm motivated to keep building, experimenting, and deepening my skills in web development.

I have an almost precise learning style and so I was a little hesitant to what this would mean for these 8 weeks but it all worked out and I definitely learned a lot and can't wait to move on to the next challanges in the next courses.

Working on my portfolio project took a couple of weeks around work, it was fun and sometimes frustrating, but I'm so happy with the progress I've made, and it's a huge improvement to my previous portfolio. I'm still finding many things I want to fix and tweak, and so I feel this will be an ongoing project with much more learning!

She Codes has been an incredible introduction to programming. Through the Python Basics course, I not only learned the fundamentals of coding but also built a real weather app using live data from APIs. Creating something functional from scratch was so empowering!

I have a masters inBiotechnology and have done bioinformatics and no one ever understood how different these topics are to coding. The SheCodes Plus Add-on workshop was the perfect next step after learning the basics. Working with HTML input types and select elements gives us more control over user interactions, but the real game-changer was working with JavaScript timing events and date formats. The step-by-step approach from setup to HTML, CSS, and then adding single and multiple locations made what seemed like a complex project feel manageable. The Plus Add-on perfectly bridged the gap between beginner concepts and slightly more advanced development! Building a functional multi-location clock app has been one of my favorite projects. So much fun!!

Shecodes is a great way to get started in coding. The course breaks various coding languages down into easy to follow lessons that I found easy to fit around work, seeing family & friends etc. I've only completed the basics part so far and have learnt so much. Looking forward to moving onto the next part of the course.

Moments: Week 1 when I finally understood JavaScript functions. Week 3 when my first API call worked. Week 5 when everything clicked and I was building features I never thought possible. I built World Clock Symphony from the ground up—no frameworks, no teammates—just browser-native JavaScript, CSS, and APIs, from the Spotify API to the Shecodes Weather API—the result: a real-time, culturally intelligent global time tool designed for distributed teams and financial operators. Every feature was scoped with GTM intent—market hour overlays, cultural greetings, weather context, and even Spotify soundtracking. I designed, built, and shipped a full-stack front-end product while treating it like a real GTM motion: messaging, positioning, UX, performance, and differentiation.

The course was clear and well-structured, making it easy to grasp key concepts. I particularly enjoyed learning how to create responsive websites. It strengthened my foundation and deepened my interest in front-end development.

I thought this was a great addition for AI add on, It really helped learn more on how things all work.

Coming from HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Python's indentation-based structure felt so different - no more curly braces or semicolons! With JavaScript, I was used to seeing immediate visual changes in the browser, so Python felt more abstract at first. But its readability was amazing, and learning to think about data processing instead of just styling was a complete mental shift.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I needed to build a portfolio, and it was a wonderful surprise to find that this course was dedicated to creating a polished, responsive one from scratch. I'm thrilled with what I was able to build and so grateful for the skills I've gained. The SheCodes Team has created a fantastic, low-pressure way to learn, and I can't thank them enough!

This workshop explored AI capabilities and guided us in building a text-generating tool using an AI API.
