I recently got hired for a new and exciting role in my school division (I am a teacher) as an Educational Technology Coordinator. A part of my role will also be working with computers and computer science, so I wanted to get a headstart this summer on improving my basic coding skills. From the first webinar, I knew that SheCodes would be a great program fit for me. You can go at your own pace, however, I found it really easy to complete the lessons and homework earlier than anticipated. The entire SheCodes Basics program was so easy to follow - I loved the lessons and Matt is a wonderful teacher who explains things. You can tell he is very passionate about coding and has so much knowledge to share. I learned many practical tips. The homework is challenging, however, with supports like the Slack channel and Athena AI, I had no issues. I've decided that after completing the Basics Program, I am definitely going to continue my SheCodes journey! I cannot wait to continue to learn and grow with this program. This community of women is very inspiring.

I was excited to learn how to code because I love design and have had a prior experience on implementation of content in back office, so I thought this could be a good choice of career. At the beginning I wasn't sure if I was capable of doing it but in these three weeks I feel that I have easily learned the code bases and I’m thinking in taking a more advanced course.
Before attending the SheCodes Basics workshop, I thought coding wasn't something for me, that it was for maths geniuses, very difficult and time-consuming but it turned out to be different. I enjoyed learning about HTML, CSS, and javascript and always did a happy dance when I had figured out an error or solved a challenge. I would compare taking this course to a rollercoaster ride. It was fun, challenging, and personally frustrating for me for like 85% of the time. But what stood out to me the most, — and honestly what pushed me to finish the course — was the constant encouragement from Matt. He acknowledges that learning how to code is tough and that we'll DEFINITELY be stumped from time to time with the course homework and challenges. Yet he emphasized that these are vital stepping stones in the learning process and that the end result will be rewarding — and indeed it is! I highly recommend this course and Matt's empowering approach to anyone eager to learn how to code.

At times it was a tad confusing and even overwhelming, especially having no prior experience in coding. But the community here is always eager to help, and the resources online make it possible for you to keep pushing through! I enjoy Matt's teaching style and how he doesn't edit his videos to the point where he seamlessly eases through the lesson. Mistakes are shown and corrected, and that's what truly helps me learn!

I found SheCodes a year ago and join the free webinar. After taking the webinar I was scared that I wouldn't be able to learn how to code. Fast forward to now I decided to take a leap of faith in June. I signed up and I am glad I did. Matt is wonderful teacher. He really puts a lot of thought in to each lesson and I really appreciate that. I have been in the IT field for 2 years now and coding was one for the goals that I had made for myself to accomplish. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow as person.
SheCodes plus was an opportunity for more learning and growth from SheCodes Foundation. I have learned alot, was able to produce things I have never thought I would produce. The SheCodes Basics workshop was very challenging experience for me. However, learning the concepts was not hard at all. The overall experience challenged my critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills. I would have never thought that this is what this experience have taught me. I enjoyed how the workshop is set out , the lessons were not too long which allowed me to grasp concepts easier. I loved how straight to the point all the lessons were.
The SheCodes Responsive Add-on Course has taught me more about grids, tables, and filters. It was a challenge to make the entire site responsive, but it was fun learning new ways to code in css and html. The travel project is one of my favorite projects so far. I have enjoyed this course and I look forward to the React Add-on Course next.

It was a very fun course! I learned a lot about React but I still know what my limitations are. I love how it is self paced, and how much help I get if I am stuck!
