SheCodes is a wonderful online platform that offers coding workshops for women who want to learn the basics of coding or explore their interest in tech. I enrolled in SheCodes Basics and I was amazed by how much I learned in just three weeks. I learned how to create a simple web page using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The instructor, Matt, is very friendly and clear, and the live chat support is always helpful and encouraging. The project was fun and rewarding, and it gave me a sense of accomplishment. Really interesting, a pretty steep learning curve but after a few WTF moments things started to click. Finally feel like I'm beginning to understand javascipt by the end of this course. Learning to code has been exciting! I like how the courses are brief yet very clear on what we need to learn. You can go at your own pace if you need more or less time on a lesson. You have access to all the tools and materials needed for the class. No matter what situation you may be in, I'm so thankful to have found this. Before taking this course, I believed that learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript would be as hard as teaching calculus to baby haha. Despite the course being a little bit spenny, it's still the best coding learning resource I have come across (and trust me I have tried everything lmao). Matt's teaching is thorough and patient, and unlike a lot of other resources online, actually talks you through the practical elements of say how to use other resources and how to host websites online etc, rather than just the care bones of 'this is how this particular language works'

Having experience working with design software's like Photoshop and Illustrator the concept of CSS was fairly easy to grasp and made sense. JavaScript was a completely new language to me but reminded me of DAX functions that I've some, but limited, knowledge of. I consider myself more creative than analytical and the logic of JavaScript took some time figure out. The workshop was a lot of fun and Matt is very pedagogical and made it easy to follow and not get overwhelmed. The lessons gave me a great foundation to build on and now I know what to look for when I inspect the developer tool in the browser. The course left me wanting to learn more!

Before taking this course I was intimidated by coding and believed it was too difficult for me and not something I could easily learn. Well, what to add. The structure of course, hints from Matt, everything, literally everything was so good that I was able to do final project for 2.5 hours. Of couse, before of it were weeks (including so needed extensions) dedicated to deep learning of documentation and investigating, but in the end I'm very proud of myself. I did it, and you will.

Enrolling in the SheCodes Basics course was one of my best decisions in recent times. Matt is a great instructor, everything was explained step by step. This course allowes you to learn the fundamentals of coding, and the best part was the practical exercises and the final project. I definitely recommend it!
I was able to grasp concepts fairly easily and quickly due to Matt's lessons. So easy to absorb and fun! If the SheCodes website didn't look so colourful and inviting, I don't think I would've been brave enough to learn how to code.

Learning to code is a lot of fun, but also very challenging. SheCodes, the team and Matt do a great job here and explain in detail how things work, but also give you the opportunity to figure out a few things by yourself or let's say let you try. But even if you are not able to do it by yourself at some point you have support helping you and always get a solution for the challenge/homework you had. This way you see exactly what has been down.
