SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

I never imagined how a workshop that started as a recommendation from a friend is becoming my passion. SheCodes Basics started to open my mind to the complex world of how the language for a web page is elaborated. The videos and challenges of this module are very understandable, and no previous knowledge is needed. I have never been so curious to inspect the pages before😅 I love how, as one progresses, more and more questions arise to exploit the creativity in the final project! And the best part is the community and the team that is always ready to clarify doubts. Thank you very much😊

The course was very hands on and clear from beginning to end. It's a lot of fun to follow along in VS code with Matt while watching the video and going back to analyze the code after watching the video as well as customizing it.

I learned a lot from SheCodes plus. I used to be scared of javascript but now I have gained some confidence and admiration of the language through this workshop. I had a lot of fun working on the assignments especially when my codes came alive. Every lesson gets more and more difficult and each time I think, I wouldn't be able to grasp the concept but as soon as I start coding is when everything starts to come together. all thanks to Matt for sharing his talent and time to make the videos and explaining thoroughly through each lesson. & last but not the least, the availability of the slack community. Fellow coders and TAs were always prompt answering questions. This workshop encourages me to learn more and I am looking forward to the next!

This course was challenging, stimulating and a huge amount of fun. To my relief, many of the questions I had at the end of Basics were answered during Plus - demonstrating a good flow in the learning material. While at first it was slightly mind-boggling, I found that I loved working with JavaScript, and I certainly recognise the "power" of it's applications and abilities as Matt explains in this videos. The Plus course boosted my confidence in coding significantly, and as such it enabled me to think more creatively in how I wanted my App to be and function. I would recommend this course to anyone who is up for a fulfilling challenge. The SheCodes team were as always very helpful when I had queries regarding my code or how to approach a new problem. Thank you Bruno and João for your assistance and advice!

I liked that we had to practice what we learned, and submit exercises, instead of just watching videos or reading text. I'm excited to take the next workshop and continue learning!

Thanks to Matt and his team I learned to code in the time that was suitable for me beside my fulltime job. The videos and the help you can get from the other students was really helpful. Challenging but still easy to follow along! I am looking forward to learn more!

What I like about SheCodes is that you can learn at your own pace, Matt walks you through the steps and you can always go back to watch previous videos, you can even take a week off if your feeling overwhelmed or unmotivated. I feel like I've just scraped the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Javascript and I'm excited to learn more.

Really enjoyed this gentle introduction in to coding. The videos were informative and got straight to the point but never felt overwhelming. I'm definitely interested in pursuing coding further! I did get stuck in the first week but could see the answer I needed easily in the slack chat which was really convenient. Definitely give it a go!

The videos were structured very well and I was able to learn at my own pace, which really helped with the learning process. While teaching you step-by-step, it also gives you the opportunity to be creative with what you learn. The course really motivates and inspires me to do more coding and it's great :)!

It was challenging but the classes have the perfect format to repeat the videos as much as you need in order to fully comprehend what is going on with your app. Really enjoyed and prepared myself to pursue a career in the tech industry thanks to this.

I really enjoyed the simple and thorough explanations and examples given for the concepts and that you could go back and watch the videos again. the challenges are not difficult to the point of frustration and with the helpful community on Slack you feel well supported.

I really enjoyed working through the lessons. The homework is the best bit because it makes you do something, not just watch the videos like a movie! Matt is a great instructor and the Slack channel is fantastic. Can't wait for the next courses.

I can't say enough good things about these lessons. It helps so much to have everything demonstrated and then to get hands-on experience with the challenges and homework. It fits my learning style perfectly. I love how the lessons are structured and that the videos feel encouraging. I can't wait to start React next!

SheCodes React was just as amazing as SheCodes Basics and Plus!! I would definitely recommend. The videos are clear and everyone is super helpful!!

This workshop enabled me to deepen my CSS skills and create a website that looks great on any device. Throughout the videos, challenges and final project I learnt more about advanced CSS techniques, SEO and design development. I enjoyed every bit of it!

I really enjoyed SheCodes basic workshop for two main reasons: first it has been taught in a pretty simple way including great examples and explanations which made the learning process very sweet and interesting. It was also fun. I must admit that Matt Delac is truly a great teacher. I spent hours watching videos and didn't notice that it was passing so fast. Second, the assignments had been designed so well that let the students practice the lessons in a highly productive and challenging way. They had an impressive role to help me master what I had learned through workshop. In a nutshell, I am really pleased with the first workshop and so excited to go to the next stage…

I did it! All four courses, what a wild ride it was and it was all thanks to Matt and the SheCodes team for making me absolutely love the whole process. The past 6 months in lockdown in Melbourne has been very productive and I think I nailed it so I'm definitely looking forward to more courses in the future as a very proud SheCodes alumni. The first week of this course was overwhelming as someone completely new to coding. After spending time reviewing the videos and much practice it became easier. I enjoyed learning a new skill and will hopefully continue this new adventure.

I really loved the 3 weeks spent on the Basics course! It was well paced and Matt was a great teacher. He broke down the concepts into digestible short videos that were easy to follow. The challenges allows us to apply what was learnt immediately after which helps to consolidate the learning as well as address any misunderstandings of how the function works! The team was really prompt with queries and were super friendly which makes it a very welcoming learning environment:)

This time, SheCodes Responsive workshop felt so fast. I really feel like a professional here. I noticed that my coding skills have improved so much since the first workshop. I absolutely love this program! The training videos are simple, and easy to understand, lessons are truly self-paced and fun. It's a great resource for a beginner.

I have learned so much so far! Matt has done a great job designing this responsive course. He does well explaining . I really enjoy the video speed feature! Matt provides plenty of resources to help! Slack is a great asset. Your questions are answered quickly. I have searched specific questions many times and have always been able to find the answer from other students challenges and homework assigments. That is another great feature, that you are able to view other student's work! I benefit greatly from seeing other code. I may be a coding-newb, but SheCodes has brought me to another level! I ALWAYS wanted to learn to code. I had tried so many courses and I was never able to finish because it was too boring or the teaching method was not easy for me. I was really impressed how each video caught my attention. Thank you Matt and the SheCodes team. It was really fun!

I had some minor understanding of HTML from computer classes. SheCodes helped me gain an understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. I really liked how the courses were set up with videos and assignments that corresponded with the new material being taught. It was fun but also challenging! I really enjoy the opportunity to learn how to code in my own time. In a few videos you are able to know the first steps to access this fantastic world.

Each lesson is pack of essential infos and the videos are very clear, straight forward, and easy to follow. Each week's project is fun, I really enjoyed each project and learned a lot from SheCodes.com workshops. I am looking forward to continue taking more workshops from Shecodes, This is much more fun and practical than most of my high school classes.

Gets a little challenging sometimes but Matt's videos are very detailed and with the use of slack I was able to gain and learn more throughout this course.

Above and beyond 🚀! This course exceeded, once again, all my expectations, the videos were clear and the help from the SheCodes team was fast and professional whenever I got stuck with my code. I didn't know anything about React before I began this course and I was very doubtful if this is something I could learn. Now, after building 2 functioning react apps, those doubts are gone 👋 I'm really going to miss my weekly SheCodes routine but that doesn't mean that coding ends here - now I'm fully capable to start applying my knowledge in my own projects! Learning with SheCodes is fun! The videos and challenges are well tailored, perfectly divided into manageable bits and the course material is so nicely structured, clear and straightforward. I simply loved progressing further in the lessons building towards the final project. Matt is very good in explaining the topics and the team helping via Slack is doing a fantastic job answering any additional questions. It's so nice to move forward with the learning material at the own pace while still feeling perfectly guided. It was a real joy to learn about APIs, Netlify, Git and so much more in this course.

Honestly, joined SheCodes without hesitation right after I watched Matt's promotional video about the organization and I haven't looked back since! After each lesson I felt empowered, like I could do anything! SheCodes demystified the world of coding for me & ignited my new found love for it ♥

Coming from a background where I had never even seen code prior to enrolling with SheCodes, I was not sure what I could reasonably expect to learn. Now, 3 workshops later, I find myself inspecting websites and thinking, "I actually would have done this a different way." The videos are so easy to follow, and there is always someone to help on Slack if you get stuck. I can't wait to see what I learn in the next workshop!

It's been such an interesting 3 weeks. I took a complete interest in coding after succeeding to build my first HTML page from the free 60mins video guide on SheCodes. I found it fascinating. Being given an opportunity to learn coding by the Delac Foundation through their scholarship program has been exciting. In 3 weeks I have learned the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The method of teaching is simplified and very relatable. I like the fact that we are encouraged to do more research of our own, as well as to find out other ways to solve specific problems and not compelled to reproduce the teacher's solution. Thanks to SheCodes I look forward to learning more and becoming a full-time developer.

I really enjoyed the SheCodes Basic course. I was doing happy dances in my chair when I figured something out and it worked! The video content is engaging and the online style means you can fit it into your schedule. I had some basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript knowledge before but this course helped to explain things so clearly and in bite-sized chunks. The short challenges and homework were great because you put your knowledge into practice straight away. Can't wait to continue onto SheCodes Plus!

This might sound super old school, but back before we had Facebook, back in the late 90's, there was a social media network called "Asian Avenue", this was where I first learn how HTML. However, as the years gone by that platform went away and I ended up getting a master degree in Accounting in 2017. During the last few years, we have been in quarantine, and I wanted to learn something new. I thought to myself, "Why not get back into learning HTML and coding". I found SheCodes, and I really enjoy it, especially how easy the videos were to follow and understand. As I continue to do these challenges and projects, I have been rethinking where I wanted to go with my career. This has opened a new chapter in my life, and I think I may want to explore more technical roles and perhaps use my accounting skills on the way. I am very happy I took the time to get back into this! Thank you SheCodes for making this such a fun learning experience!

I've always been curious about coding, and this was a great introduction! The lesson videos are easy to follow along, and the homework assignments do a great job of being easy to understand but still be just challenging enough to bring out your own creativity. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn some basic coding skills, and I hope to be able to continue my journey in the future!

I really enjoyed all of the videos. The SheCodes Basics was a great start and broke down all the concepts in a way I understood. I would recommend this class, especially since you get to learn with programs that are used in real life.

It's great that you can set your own space completing this workshop, and I would have never thought that I would lose myself in coding for hours and hours because I wanted to learn more and more. The videos are easy to follow and Matt provides great tips. I've done some other online courses about HTML and CSS in the past, but I was never able to find the right commitment. The challenges and homework at SheCodes changed that. I'm very proud of the end result!

SheCodes Basics has been a wonderful introduction to Front-End Development for me. Since I can access the videos any time, I've been able to do it on the weekends and after work. And now I've coded my first web page! It is unbelievable how easy Matt makes coding seem and I can't recommend SheCodes more.

I'm so glad that I did this course! Though it's been challenging, I love that I've been able to go back and rewatch videos, get feedback from peers and also from the SheCodes staff. They get back to you quickly and really take the time to explain things when I got stuck. I had been using other resources to try to learn coding before trying SheCodes, including apps. I feel like I'm grasping concepts better and can actually apply what I'm learning. I really love that you have assignments and homework deadlines, I needed the extra motivation, I wasn't getting that from other things I had tried. I'm really excited to complete all of the other courses I signed up for with SheCodes!

An amazing introduction into the world of coding. Lessons are set out in an extremely user friendly 3 part format - 'Learn' A video tutorial explaining how something works. 'Challenge' An opportunity to demonstrate what you have just learnt. 'Solution' Explanation of how to solve the challenge. The video tutorials are informative and perfectly timed to ensure that they aren't overwhelming for newbies. Just enough information is provided to allow students to have a clear set up whilst also providing a little extra challenge here and there. Completing the final project has left me really excited and ready to take on the 'SheCodes Plus' workshop next! Huge thank you to Matt and the SheCodes teams! :)

Having two projects helped me to understand better how react works. In this course videos were great to learn as coding was explained from a real time perspective on how a developer would solve bugs. From these videos on my last project I went little beyond the tutorials to try how much I can code independently and this made me understand how much in videos searching for bugs helped. This course was a good introduction to react and looking forward to create more complex projects.

I enyojed this short course, it was great to get a bit more familiar with coding! The videos were good for learning, Matt explained everything and the solution section helped a lot as well. The learning materials were clear and easily understandable, the challanges were super fun and it felt like a little win each time I could complete one.

Learn how to start coding easily and objectively. Matt can explain coding in a simple way and the videos do help a lot. You can learn at your own pace with all the fundamentals explained.

SheCodes Plus was a great course to take after SheCodes Basics where I got to use what I had previously learnt and develop a greater understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It was challenging at times but the videos and solutions from Matt along with all the support from the rest of the team via Slack meant I was able to complete my weekly homework and for the final project create something better than I could have hoped for.

This was a super fun course to learn from. Matt's videos are well-paced and make it fun and easy to absorb information! I've really enjoyed the journey.

It was a good learning curve. I am glad i can have a look at the classes again as after the course you have lifetime access. Which i am sure there is more i can learn from them video which i didn't pick up straight away. I would recommend this course. Matt goes over things step by step. It's an excellent course, very didactic! Primarily if the person has no prior knowledge of the topics. Even with prior knowledge of HTML and CSS, the course is worth doing due to tips and "hacks" that can streamline coding. I am a designer and mainly enrolled to learn more about javascript to help me better plan my projects and improve my communication with devs. After finishing my final project, I was very proud of what I have learned so far. The the course differential, for me, are the exercises! Because it intercalates with videos, which has the ideal time length, making the learning experience more dynamic.

I have had so much fun for the past 3 weeks with SheCodes Basics! I can't believe how much I have learned in just 3 weeks. I have been working as an IT Service Desk Analyst for 10 years and I was desperately looking for something better. I have been working closely with our development team for the past 2 years. At first, I was so intimidated sitting in their meetings because I didn't understand a thing and I thought you had to be some kind of genius to do that kind of work. Then slowly I began to understand what they were talking about and became familiar with some of the lingo. I started wondering if I could do it too. I tried two other learning programs online and became frustrated and felt defeated. Then I saw an advertisement on a YouTube video for SheCodes and decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! After watching the free introductory class I knew this was it for me and it would change my life. I signed up for all of the workshops and I can't wait to start SheCodes Plus! The short video lessons are the perfect way for me to learn and I love the challenges, homework, and deadlines! I need structure to keep me on track. I loved learning with shecodes.io! The course is structured in a way that walks you through the materials step by step, by watching detailed videos and practice everything through milestones mini-projects, and a final big project.

This is the first time I have ever coded in my life and I was super nervous at first. Matt's lessons are broken down into small increments and the challenges make it very easy to check your learning at your own pace.
