SheCodes is an incredibly accessible way for women around the world to learn how to code. The lessons are easy to follow and move at a good pace. The projects are not only interesting, but also have real life value as examples of what you can do for potential employers. I appreciate that Matt always encourages us to have fun and to take breaks when we get frustrated - it's a healthy attitude that helps prevent me from getting overwhelmed. When I was a teacher, I learned that the most valuable thing we can teach our students is the ability to learn. Teaching people how to learn, problem solve, and figure things out on their own is incredibly empowering. SheCodes does that for you. While it's not always the most fun as a student (😅), being put in situations where you have to apply previous knowledge to figure out a new puzzle is a great exercise for learning. You'll often find yourself in positions like that during your lessons, but you become all the more stronger for it.

The perpetual isolation of the lockdown was depressing but it gave me the chance to reflect on my life. This is when I realized I was unhappy with my job and it was time to explore other avenues. During this time is when I also discovered Tik Tok. The "tech girlies" were showcasing their luxurious lives afforded by the benefits their entitled to for working in tech. I decided I too wanted a piece of the tech pie and it was time for me to search for a way in. After researching various coding programs, I came across SheCodes.
