I've tried coding in the past during my time at university. I immediately found it fascinating and fun, but I never really felt like I was part of the coding community or that I could comfortably ask for help. This greatly discouraged me during this time. I felt like maybe coding just isn't something I can do. It has been a number of years with small attempts to get back into coding here and there. I kept hearing about SheCodes and the success of thousands of women around the world who began with little to no coding experience. I began thinking, 'Maybe I really can do it!'. I attended the free workshop led by Matt and my intrigue with coding was instantly restored. His way of instructing made me feel confident that I can actually follow along and genuinely understand the lessons. I appreciate how he does not rush through the lessons and breaks them down into easily digestible videos. What has held me back in the past is my difficulty with reaching out for help. The SheCodes website has tons of resources right at my fingertips. Slack is also awesome for finding answers to questions I've had. It's also reassuring to know that I'm not alone with whatever question I have because it's often already been asked on Slack. The moderators are kind and highly responsive, it is a very encouraging and collaborative space. It's a great tool to have alongside the workshops. This is just the beginning of my coding journey, but I am so excited! I have big plans for my future career plans!
I learned so much in this basic course. I thought I was gonna struggle a lot more, but I didn't. Matt does a great job breaking down each lesson and explaining them. The best part about this platform is that you get homework after each lesson so you are forced to actually apply what you learned. I also like how there is a support group so if you get stuck along the way you can ask for help. Thank you SheCodes Team.
SheCodes was a great experience for my first time diving into coding. I did find it to be a bit challenging and it is something that needs practice like learning a language. I found myself getting nervous about deadlines and it took me some time to really get some of the things down. The team is VERY helpful on the slack channel! I wouldn't have been able to get through this with the help of Matt and his team. Thank you for the fun experience!!

I really enjoyed SheCodes Basics! I have wanted to learn how to code for quite a long time. A couple of years ago, I tried learning using free online resources but I found it challenging and gave up eventually. When I attended the Free Coding Class and Matt explained about the course and the process of SheCodes, I decided to go for it. I am so glad I did because I ended up loving it! The class is so well structured and easy to follow. What I also loved was the help you can get from the SheCodes team. When I was stuck with a challenge, they responded to my question really quickly! The whole structure of SheCodes is great, with lessons divided step by step and some homework in between. Matt is very charismatic and his teaching is very humane, which allows you to relate to him and feel more comfortable in your coding journey.

I found the React part really dificult. It went to fast and the videos Matt did, didn´t really match the source code from him. Also, I believe I could learn better and faster if we had had an easier final. Yes, I understand that the Weather App is a good way to go, but for me it was to dificult and complicated. There are sooo many things to think about and to understand in a short amount of time. I think that by doing it a bit easier and and fully understand what you are doing, will resolve in you leraning easier on your own later. Also, when it says that the forecast is volontary (in the final), thats says a lot to me. But, Matt is without a doubt a really good teacher, love his videos and I would recomend it even if I thought is was hard.
The React projects were the hardest yet but, as always, the content is delivered in a way that breaks concepts up into manageable chunks. It's so satisfying to see the project grow and things work after battling through such complex coding tasks! I've never been more proud of seeing a task through even though at times I found it very challenging. I'm glad to have had Matt's great videos and the SheCodes team available to help guide me when I was stuck.
Thank you SheCodes Team and Matt for guiding me through this deep-dive into web-development. I came as a complete novice and emerged after the course as robust learner, aspired to move forward and kick-start my small test-project. I appreciate your work, guys, very much!
Amazing workshop, now that I can use both Bootstrap and media queries, I feel unstoppable! I would recommend this course to anyone who would like to gain knowledge of responsiveness on different devices, especially using Bootstrap, which seems to be a skill currently in high demand. The SheCodes Plus Workshop has been great in building my confidence up with coding. With Matt's teaching methods, I was able to finally understand JavaScript a bit more. Althouth it was very difficult to work with and finish my final project because of great problems in Ukarainian electrical power system and caused instant interruptions of electricity, - I've done it! Matt and his videos - was as a ray of light in our black days )
SheCodes team and Matt make this a very painless learning experience! I even sustained a major injury to my hand during the class and was able to easily take a few weeks off to recover then come back to coding. I am really happy I started my journey into tech through SheCodes and I would highly recommend to others looking to start from scratch.
Consuming API with JavaScript was challenging but Matt made it so easy. I can now code comfortably with JavaScript thanks to SheCodes.
I'm really happy I've got my own custom personally made portfolio website, all thanks to Matt and his great coding team teaching and helping me every step of the way. It got a little complicated halfway through but I managed to get through it all the way to the end. I'm ready to knock out the next workshop and keep moving forward!

I have been trying to learn how to code by reading books and study from free/purchased online resources, but I gave up so many times because I didn't get it at all. I gave it a try again with SheCodes. And I can't believe I created webpage in 2 days! (It's actually 1-week course, but I spent my whole weekend on learning SheCodes Basic). I don't know how Matt made it so easy to understand, like, How didn't I understand this in the other places? lol

In my opinion, two of the positive points of this workshop were that the timing of the videos was great because they were not so long to cause fatigue. secondly, Matt's explanations were simple & understandable. Learning HTML, CSS and Javascript in SheCodes Basic was a breeze! I finished it in 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed the videos and projects. I was able to comprehend the material, and I enjoyed how the challenges were right in between simple and complex. I appreciate Matt not giving me all the answers but instead challenging me to figure some things out on my own.
I come from an outdoor environmental education, services, and stay-at-home mom background. I knew my way around Microsoft Word and could connect my phone bluetooth to my car....and that's about it. If I could do this then so can you! If you're on the fence, just do it. JUST TRY IT! Matt really breaks it down for you. I'm not going to lie, it was frustrating at times, but it was even more gratifying to solve the problem by myself and see the results of my hard work.

I can recommend SheCodes to anyone who aims to learn coding through an online course and is self-motivated to reach this goal. You can easily exceed the estimated course hours as it becomes a lot of fun getting creative and trying to build other features. Matt's instructions are always clear, well structured, and therefore easy to follow. While this might sound like a walk in the park, I would like to point out how frustrating coding gets at times. A great way to practice patience, be open to different approaches but also know your limits and find ways to work around occurring issues.

Going into this workshop I had low expectations for myself and what I found in the first day was how much I loved this! The workshop was a fun and accessible way to get started with coding! Matt explains everything step by step, making it easy to follow along. I liked the ratio between the theory and the challenges. Another big plus for me was that I was able to work whenever and wherever I wanted to.

Matt models all concepts with screencast videos. I like that he also mentions commonly made mistakes and how to fix them. There are numerous opportunities to practice new concepts and receive feedback before moving on. Slack makes it easy to ask for and receive specific feedback on your code, when you hit a roadblock.
I highly recommend this workshop for everyone who wants to learn coding for the first time. Matt is an amazing teacher and his teachings are visually easy to learn from.👩🏻💻🥰

This workshop has definitely given me the confidence when it comes to learning how to code. Matt has made everything so easy to follow and as I am currently working full time, being able to work through the lessons in my own time has given me the freedom to finally learn a new skill that I am really excited about.
