SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

This course was very similar to the Basics course, with small variations through adding new css features. It was quite repetetive and a bit slower paced than Basics. However, you still learn many incredibly useful features to use when styling a website. Therefore, I would definitely recommend this!

I have already recommended this workshop to many people. With SheCodes, my understanding of tech and my curiosity to expand my knowledge further have been well guided and fed. Providing plenty of learning space and encouraging deeper research, while also keeping an empathetic and friendly environment that differentiates it from bootcamps and schools that would try too hard and end up tiring and confusing learners unnecessarily. The SheCodes Basics Add-on was the perfect next step after completing Basics. It gave me the chance to practice more, deepen my understanding, and gain confidence with coding through hands-on projects. The lessons were clear, practical, and really fun to follow!

This course was incredibly useful because it helped me see myself through the eyes of a potential employer. I can see it being especially valuable for anyone just entering the industry. Having been a hiring manager in my previous role, I completely agree with the message being delivered: hiring managers are busy, don’t overcomplicate things. Point out what you’re good at, keep everything clean and easy on the eyes, and that’s what stands out the most. Another big takeaway was the importance of continuing to build projects while job searching. Keeping your coding skills sharp and showing consistent growth is key, and this course really reinforced that. For me, that was the most important and lasting message.

What a great experience! I thought I would mostly enjoy the visual part of creating a landing page. However, I found myself enjoying the search for ways I could improve the code and even how to fix bugs 🕵️‍♀️. I can't wait to learn more.

What a brilliant course! Having done a bit of JavaScript in high school, I was eager to see how much I could remember. The lessons were well-structured for beginners. The basics course was organised in a way that it was not overwhelming to newbies. The challenges were extremely helpful in putting the lessons into practice right after learning about a new concept.

It was an interesting workshop

SheCodes React Add-on brought me back to the classic SheCodes rhythm I’ve loved over the last six months. After the first React course’s fast pace, this add-on felt focused and hands-on—clear lessons followed by building. We integrated new APIs and built something different from my earlier projects, and by the end React really clicked for me. I’m happy to finish one of my final courses on a high note and excited to keep shipping React apps.

Loved this! Learning more about forms, how to utilize them and how to inject time and timezones was a lot fun. I will say it again repetition as well as trial and error are what help you retain the knowledge. When it gets challenging, taking a deep breath, water break or whatever helps you and then go through your code step-by-step and you will figure it out. 😊

The SheCodes add-on project was a valuable learning experience for me. It helped transform coding concepts into something tangible and creative. I particularly enjoyed building the interactive elements, as they made the project feel more dynamic. This process not only improved my technical skills but also encouraged me to think critically about design choices and experience. Completing it not only strengthened my coding skills but also boosted my confidence in building projects independently.

I had such a great time with the SheCodes Responsive Workshop! It was honestly so cool to learn how to make websites that work perfectly on phones and laptops. The lessons were easy to follow, and I loved building my own portfolio site—it felt so rewarding! Athena explains things in a way that just clicks, even tricky stuff like Flexbox. I went from being nervous about coding to feeling super confident. The community was amazing, always cheering each other on. I’m already pumped for the next course to keep learning. If you’re curious about coding, you’ll love this!

The React workshop was not my favorite part of the workshop. I found it quite confusing, especially when it came to setting up the environment and understanding how everything fits together. I’m still in the process of grasping its concepts, and honestly, I haven’t enjoyed it much so far. That said, I am willing to give it time and grace, and I believe that with continued practice and patience, I will eventually make progress and become more comfortable with React.

This AI project was so much fun. I enjoyed it very much.

This has been a fun course. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to explore the possibilities of integrating AI into coding.

It was a good learning curve adjusting the code of my vanilla JS weather app to React. I built it with Vite since the suggested create-react-app has been deprecated, and the tutorial videos of this workshop haven't been updated in a few years it seems, so I wanted to try to learn up-to-date methods, which meant using React, Vite and Netlify documentation and YouTube videos to learn what I needed to complete this project in React.

A practical hands on approach to advanced python. Navigating the more complex tasks was really rewarding. Visualising data sets in a variety of ways highlights the real world application of python and provides a understanding of big data sets. Excellent guidance on how to develop and improve code to a professional standard.

The SheCodes React course was challenging and moved quickly. While the early weeks felt a little disorganized and not always aligned with the homework, the last two weeks returned to the strong SheCodes style I’ve seen in other classes, walking us through an app step by step. In the end, I gained the core React foundations I need for front-end development. If you’re considering it, expect a steep learning curve, but it’s worth it.

I am a physical therapist who has always been curious about how things work. I started building computers when I was young but coding seemed a lot harder. I am so glad I can finally understand how the basics work and I cannot wait to learn more.

Taking part in the SheCodes Basics workshop has been such a rewarding experience for me. As a Bachelor of Science student in Physical Sciences, I’ve always loved problem-solving and critical thinking, but I never thought I would enjoy coding this much. SheCodes introduced me to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a way that was simple, practical, and fun. The lessons were very clear, and the hands-on projects helped me see how coding can bring ideas to life. What stood out the most was how creative coding can be. I really enjoyed being able to completely work on a project from wireframe to deployment. Integrating two new API's in one website was a challenge - but now I know I can do it!

challenging and rewarding making it all the way to the end. Learnt heaps and wished I had more time to go further but very happy with what I have learnt up to now and look forward to being able to use it in my future endeavours

This was another great project to develop my coding skills. I enjoyed building on skills from other workshops, and found it interesting how to manipulate images to make them more appropriate for a hero/footer.
